Vegas Style wedding...without going to Vegas!!
So, I've always loved the intimate chapels that are used in most vegas weddings. And being that my faince' and I are both VERY private people, we don't want a huge wedding. We want something that is going to reflect both of our personalities. Being that I live in New Orleans, Louisiana...a LONG way away from Vegas, I didn't think I'd be able to find a chapel like this. Well, after searching since CHRISTMAS, I've found one!! And it's IN New Orleans' historic French Quarter!! It has the arch with flowers and they do 'traditional' christain vows or you can do your own. Being that we both believe in God but aren't followers of a certain religion, we're going to use the traditional vows. (Neither of us are very good at public speaking and both suffer from SEVER social anxiety. So traditional is best for us! lol) This gives us the security of knowing we aren't going to get rained on (being we're getting married April, 2 2006) but still have the semi-private ceremony we both want. This way only a few close friends and the MOST important family members can attend the ceremony. Everyone else can attend the reception, that isn't planned yet! LoL! I'm going to have a Matron of Honor and My Fiance' is going to have a Best Man. I'm also going to use my Matron of Honor's two son's (Payton - he'll be 2 around that time and Taylor - He'll be 6 around that time) as my ring boys. The only problem I'm having is this...
I don't know ANYONE with a young daughter. My fiance's sister and him aren't speaking at the moment. (LOTS of past problems there) And I wanted it to be her daughter who is about 8. The only other girl that I know that I feel close enough to let in my wedding is about 14 years old and I'm guessing this is too old for a flower girl. I always pictured a little girl, throwing flowers and forgetting what she was doing and walking to her Mommy or Daddy! (haha, soooo cute!) Something like that always stands out in your mind.
So...do you all have any ideas as to what I should do for a flower girl???
How "personal" is it to ask someone to be your flower girl?? SHOULD it be a family member or 'best' friend's kid??? I'm lost, I have my colors (baby blue, black and white), my location, the date and everything else picked out. But no flower girl!!! I even know what I want the flower girl to wear...I just don't have one!!!
