Not sure how different it is in Northern Ireland. David has to come here from Australia, and be resident in the district for 15 days before we serve notice - we've been advised to bring his plane ticket, passport, and a letter from the owner of the house he'll be staying in to vouch that he's been there.
After 15 days we serve notice - that takes 7 days, and then the licence is issued. We can then get married!
This is all for a church wedding too!! And it better be right - every time I phoned the registrar in my district I got a different story, until I got fed up & rang the Chief Registrar. If they mess up our wedding I'll be giving some people a good slap!
