The Sand Ceremony
In my years of providing entertainment at wedding receptions I have had the honor to witness many new traditions. I would like to share one with you now you may or may not have experienced this.
The bride and groom are each given a small velvet pouch containing white sand. The Officiant or bestman ( depending where you choose to do this) is holding a small clear bottle with some sand in it. he then asks the bride to ad a pinch of sand from her pouch representing her full commitment of her and her family and place it in the small bottle, Then the groom. The officiant then puts the lid on the botlle shakes it up and explains that the grains of sand placed in the bottle represent the combined commitment of the bride and groom and to truly break this commitment each the bride and groom must seperate and retrieve each grain of sand they have placed in the jar. Only then will this unity be broken.
Some variations I have seen are using colored sand and decorated bottles. just thought I would share to help make your special day a little more special.
