I say go for York - I love York with the 'old' sections and the ulta modern new bits - and one of the best thing is the nightlife! If you go there, go on one of the 'ghost walks' - wow!
I was really scared good job Jon was with me....they are so atmoshpheric and really hammer home what it must have been like in victorian times.
York is also a fab place to go christmas shopping - especially the market and the shambles!
Hope you find somewhere you like...me & Jon went to Brid for a weekend a couple of months ago and it was great just to chill out and walk along the beach barefoot holding hands....aaaaw it was soo romantic. Sorry went off on a slight tangent there, but I love York and that's my recommendation!!
