Default Help!

I've been stuck at 9st13-ish for months and now go to 3 exercise classes a week (or at least intend to!). I'm obviously getting thinner as my clothes are fitting differently plus I'm getting into a smaller size but I can't seem to shift the pounds.

I know muscle weighs more than fat but I'm only doing step and normal aerobics so am only toning up really. I a veggie anyway so eat fairly healthily anyway but want to lose weight too. Any ideas?

It's much harder to lose weight when you are nearly there and don't have much to lose. Seeing as you only have a few pounds to go and are keen to get rid of it I'd watch every calorie you eat for a few weeks and reduce you calorie intake to 1100 - 1200. . And how about varying your exercise - how about swimming or a long walk or run to burn the fat rather than just tone muscles.
Unless you're doing all this already then I don't know...

weight watchers advise you measur yourself as well as weighing as if you are excersizeing as you will weigh more do to the excerizeing but you will probally find that you are actualy toning uo thats the theorey anyway

why do you have to be lighter too? I'm sure your BMI is within the normal range and if you are getting smaller you must look good too so why worry about what the scales say?

I'm just obsessed I think but once weighed 8 and a half stone and have never got back to it.

Stupid pill and big boobs (Bob carried out an experiment and worked out they weigh about 9lbs! - don't ask!!)

I know I should be really pleased as I once went up to 11 and a half through an unhappy first marriage and have got my figure back now.

Body Mass Index - a kind a fat to weight ratio or something.

It's your body mass index, it is a way to calculate whether you are "fat or not:

Your height in metres squared divided into your weight in kilos:
I'm 1.72 tall (ish) and weigh 76kg so its 76/ 2.95 = 25.7

You want it to be between 20 & 25 ideally - so I need to lose some weight.

But, it doesn't work for everyone, particularly as it doesn't take body shape or frame size into account.

HTH!! I've just admitted to being overweight in public. If that doesn't motivate me, nothign will!!

Oh, and Laurie, how tall are you? It sounds like you're quite a healthy weight....

Changing the exercise you do is a very good idea (or so I've been told!!)

I'm 5'4 - I think I just about make it in the healthy range.

Other charts I've seen say I'm overweight / borderline obese but considering I'm in a size 10 skirt today, I think that's total pants!!

I agree Laurie - some of the size charts are for lightweights!! I like the one at the back of Slimming Magazine - they seem to be quite sensible. I know I've a large frame, and I'll never be a size 8 (unless I was mortally ill!), so a 12 would suit me fine. And don't even get me started about the sizes of clothes....if I could shrink my bust, I'd be fine.

Has anyone else noticed that when you hit 25, it all gets so much harder to lose?

You're right - I'm starting to sound like my sister who is TOTALLY obsessed with her weight and won't wear anything but black.
