Warning! Warning!! I've been a Slimming World devotee for a long time but now I am a bit worried....... at my night school last night we were discussing nutrition and this is what the instructor said:
Your diet should be made up of:
55-60% carbs
10-15% protein
30% fats (lots of these are hidden in food so don't start eating lard cos you don't think you're eating enough of the stuff)
Anyway, I asked about SW and the teacher went green with horror. Said protein is full of ammino acids (see your flesh rot) and the Red days were an evil idea. She said if I must use it as a diet, I mustn't stay on it for long.
Think I'll go back to Weight Watchers......
It's fine as a diet but don't embrace it as a way of life!!!! I had....

I'm sorry to report that news...... but I am now giving SW up. At the end of the day, it's best to be healthy. But Nessa, you can do it to lose weight - I was intending to live the rest of my life like that and THAT'S what would have killed me. It won;t damage you in the short term.
Bring on the pasta!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Next week: Why we should all eat butter!

im on slimming world and am really enjoying it at the mo i cant believe the amount of food that you can eat. so far tho i think i prefer green days as i feel much fuller and tend not to be looking for more to eat. ive only been on it for 2wks and lost 3lbs in my 1st week but stayed the same on 2nd as it was the time of the month for me so hopefully ill have lost a few more this week. i used to be on WW but you are soooooo restricted on that diet i much prefer SW now ive tried it for myself

I am on SW too, but I mostly stick to green days as I don't like to eat tons of meat! Have been on it since Dec lat year and have lost a stone so far, although I haven't been trying as hard as I could have. However, I am pretty happy with my weight loss and intend to stick with it a while longer.
I am not too worried about the amino acids thing cos I can get my protein from eggs and stuff and stick to green days which are really healthy too!
Just throwing my hat into the ring!
Love Jessx

I've been on SW 'on and off' for a while now. I've found that I loose about a stone, get bored with not having loads of meat with my veg (and vice versa), pig out and end up back to where I was.
I have just come back from a week away and weigh EXACTLY the same as I did, when I very first started SW.
Think my only answer is to have my jaws wired - pass me the pliers someone!
