Default Anyone want to.....

...be e-mail buddies with me while I start my diet?
I need to lose a lot of weight for health (and other) reasons.
I hate the whole WW/Slimming World thing - I don't like my loss/gain being announced to the world! The diets are okay but I need to change the whole way I think about food.
I know I need some support so if anyone fancies it drop me a PM.

I've heard of cook yourself thin - I can stick to things, just need a lot of encouragement
The other thing is cooking different meals for everyone while I'm sticking to healthy eating - now that really gets to me!

I suppose I'm lucky in that we normally cook Grace something different anyway. Rob is usually good and eats what I eat - it helps him think he is being healthy

It's more tricky here!
Jim will eat what I give him although he prefers more meat based dishes to me. The kids arent too bad - Oliver is a human dustbin and will eat anything, Rachel is a bit more fussy although eats most things. Joshua is a nightmare! He will only eat certain things and he knows if I switch brand. He hates meat but has recently started eating a small amount of chicken or bacon bits in his pasta.
Me - well the problem is I'll eat anything lol. I was much better when I was working (off sick for 4 months now with a knee injury) as I'd eat a banana or fruit for break and have a litre of water (it's hot even in an outpatients dept!). Most times I'd skip lunch when I got home at 1pm as I wanted to tidy round before the kids got in and check e-mails then do the school run.
So I've just sat here putting on weight as my routine is all screwed up.
I can't exercise due to my knee - normally I'd fit in a 3 mile walk with the dog and we'd cycle 25 miles a week on our bikes.
The kids go back to school here on Tuesday so maybe that will help although I'm desperate to get exercising again.

Have you considered how you want to do it? Do you want to cut out bad things or follow something? With me I need to do a weekly menu and follow it or it all goes to pot.

The times I've tried before I've gone for a low fat option and not bothered with calorie counting etc. I really don't know what's best!
I want to change the whole way I approach food - I think I need to learn what types of food to eat, i.e, proteins/carbs and when! I think some internet research is called for!

Well the recipes I have are low fat versions of normal food. I make thai curry, spag bol, shepherd's pie etc etc. I need a chocolate fix too so I make truffles that are only 47 calories! I've also made banana choc chip muffins this week to help with the cake/biscuits cravings! I would eat toast for breakfast, apple for mid-morning, bagel and banana for lunch, WW cookies for mid-afternoon with tea and something like the above for dinner with choccy after. I'm quite enjoying it and feel so much healthier than normal. Let me know if you would like to check out the recipes xx

The recepies sound great! I would normally make stuff like spag bol, shepherds pie and stir fry so sounds like I wouldnt have to deviate too much. I try to stay away from chocolate and biscuits etc as I can't just have one!
I like bagels too.

Laura, I'm going to do Slimming World (joined last night) so I can PM you if you just want someone to whine with and for a bit of support? I have the same issues with cooking (can't give little kids things made with skimmed milk / fry light / artificial sweetners etc) so have to prepare separate meals or at least take mine out then add theirs.... and similar probs with exercise due to pressurised job and kids.... any good to you?
