Default Help!

Right then all you lovely laydeeeeeeeeeeees!

I need to lose weight & get fit, all the usual rubbish that you have to do, especially as my own husband is telling me that I need to sort myself out as i'm getting bigger!

I am about 3st overweight (gutted cause I lost it all in Jake's 1st year!), by doing ww & spinning twice a week.

However i went to New York in Oct 05 & it's all gone downhill from there literally!! I couldn't get back into spinning as I need to get into a routine.

With regards to food, i absolutely love food & i just can not diet! I was wondering if I should go to Hypnotherapy - has anyone tried it!? I just need to get over the fact that I am not hungry & that i am eating cause i'm bored, low, & it's there!

We're not exactly rolling in pennies at the mo, so if i can do without going to ww/slimming world then that would be gr8, but I need some help!

What do you lovely people think as I don't want to lose my hubbie to some lovely fit young bird!

Nessa.

Ness, I hate to say it but probably the only way is 3 healthy meals a day.

I'm less than slim myself but maintaining an average size 12 (complete with enormous oversized arse!) and doing it by having an apple and a banana for breakfast (and a Yakult), then having a bagel with low fat cream cheese and smoked salmon for lunch - this leaves me feeling very full as the bagel is so dense and also a little decadent with the salmon!

Then just having something to really bulk me out in the evening like pasta and chicken or loads and loads of veg with some meat.

I will admit that i'm sometimes a little hungry in the break between breakfast and lunch but i'm having to just live with that - I also don't notice it if i'm busy which makes me think that my morning hunger is just a boredom thing as much as anything.

I've totally given up snacking between meals too which seems to be helping.

Good luck babe - it's not easy no matter what you do but perhaps 3 meals a day and a bit of exercise will make all the difference.

Forgot to say that my lovely boys at work drag me out once a week for a pig out pizza sesh which leaves me feeling like i'm not missing out.

As I say, just one lunchtime a week but I stuff myself silly - to the point where I can't manage dinner in the evening.

Not putting on weight just yet

the key is to eat little and often and have 5-6 small meals per day rather than 3 healthy meals per day with snacks in between - eating little and often will keep you blood sugar ticking over at a steady rate, and keep your metabolism revved up all day. when you eat 3 larger meals per day you generally take on more calories than you need and can get a blood sugar rush and then a HUGE dip a couple of hours later. you should try to cut out starchy carbs like white bread, white pasta, and replace with wholegrain breads and wholewheat pasta. you should also try to include a portion or protein AND carbohydrate at EVERY meal.
im just saying what works for me - 3 meals a day clearly works for Dawnie - different things will work for different people however its a matter of trial and error. either way, whether you eat 3 meals, or 5-6 small meals, the key is to take in less calories than you are using - and of course exercise is the key with this. PM if you want anymore advice or a fitness programme or diet plan done out.

I've actually just rejoined a club - Slimming World to be exact - cos I feel I need the push and the ritual humiliation of a class to get me going. Didn't you used to do Slimming World? You could always dig out your books etc and do it from home. You can look after me! I'm scared!

Megan makes a good point Ness - have you found that a certain regime works for you.

I know that little and often is meant to work but it never did for me whereas 3 meals a day does.

What worked for you before darlin?

I'm doing the C ook yourself thin diet (on Ch4) and it's great. It's forced me to completely change how I eat yet it's still normal meals like curries, pasta, chicken and I get to eat chocolate truffles at 47 cals each!

Ness, I've got the WW at home stuff from after I had James if you want to borrow it? I personally prefer counting points coz then I can allow myself a treat, or if I blow out I make sure I walk into town - but the no count looks pretty good too, just need to have a stack of discipline.

Let me know, might be worth a read?
