Default Weighed today - sorry a bit long

Remember the nurse at the fat clinic thought I needed a change of HRT? Well when I saw the doc he decided against it. Reason being that up until I couldn't do any exercise this one I'm on had been great, losing a steady 1-2lb a fortnight on average. I've had what I thought was hormonal overload some months where I could literally have killed someone which is another reason it was thought this HRT may not be the right one. Once I couldn't exercise the weight loss stopped and some weeks a little bit went back on.

Anyway after speaking to the doc and seeing the forms I have to fill in for my medical with the consultant it seems that the way I've been emotionally is very probably a knock on effect of the accident and the amount of pain I've been in.

The problem with changing HRT is getting the right one. It took god knows how many to get this one that up until this year had been great. Changing it could mean one that causes more weight gain, one that doesn't control the flushes etc. So he decided instead to try me on Orlistat the fat busting tablets. They stop so much of the fat absorbing into the body and I've heard miraculous tales of them. I've also heard the horror stories so I was a bit wary but figured what the hell give them a go.

Well I've seen the doc today and I really didn't expect to have lost anything. Our diet is far lower in fat than I ever dreamed - it's only when I looked at it properly that I realised just how low it is. So I've had none of the horror stories I've heard of people having. Because of this I'd sort of resigned myself to just never losing the weight. Went today to get weighed and I've lost 2lb

It's not a lot and certainly nowhere near as much as I've heard of other people losing on the tablets but the doc said that's quite simply because my diet is so good. They can't eliminate large amounts of fat if large amounts aren't going in. Also I haven't had to cut down what I eat or change it so there's no weight loss that normally comes with the tablets when people normally have to do that.

One thing it has made me feel a bit happy about is I always mantained it was HRT alone that had caused all this weight gain and not diet and this has just verified that. There have been times when I've wondered is it me and something I'm eating but obviously not.

I've got another months worth of them so fingers crossed they do something this month too. Also in two weeks I finally see the consultant and hopefully get this injection that will fix my elbow and mean I can start the physio again to sort the other problems out. Once they're sorted I can start exercising again.

Second weigh in on the tablets and that's another 5lb off So that means the weight I've put back on since I've not been able to exercise properly since the accident is now gone. I'm back to square one now but I'm ok with that because it's coming off

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.
