Default Running

Does anyone here do any running? I have been doing a little bit over the last few weeks as I am determined to get fit. Paul does loads of running and is doing a half marathon next month and running the New Forest Marathon in September. He wanted to do the London one but didn't get in.

I have been getting bored with the gym and not going so he has persuaded me to have a go at running. One of his mates is a running coach so has given me lots of tips and a training plan to follow. He has even entered me in a 10K race at the end of March. Paul goes to a running club and is trying to persuade me to go along. I might in a few weeks as I think it will help me to get better.

I'm finding it really hard but over the few weeks I've been doing it, I can see that I have got better and am determined to get to 10K. At the moment I can run 7K and it takes me about 45mins.

I am trying to go 2-3 times a week and am surprised that in the 4 weeks I've been doing it I have gone from struggling to run half a mile to managing 7K. I do find it really hard and don't think I am a natural runner. It is nice to go down the beach and run instead of going to the gym and going on the treadmill.

I just wondered if anyone else does any running or am I the only nutter that goes out in the cold and runs along the beach. How far do you run and do you enter any races?

I like the sound of running along the beach Teresa but I tried running and hated it! I do however love being outside and hence we took up cycling! Great exercise and outside - bingo!
Sounds like you are doing really well! Keep it up.

I haven't really done much running, as, in the immortal words of D olly P arton, "I don't want to blacken both my eyes"!

However in a bit of an attempt, I've actually gone & bought some cross-trainers as I'm starting fitness classes through work this Thursday. Hopefully that'll give me a bit of an incentive to do some more the rest of the week. Although my trainers ARE terribly white and new looking, I'd hate to get them dirty

I'm a bit of a running gumby, have hardly done any the last year or so, but did a small amount before that. You sound like you're doing really well, I'm not a natural runner so it is really hard for me to increase my distance - good on you!

PS I have gone running when it has been -3 and frosty as hell!

I can see where she's coming from!! I'm not "built" to run at all. Teresa we've just published a book about running, pm me your address and I'll pop a copy in the post if you like (the perks of working in a publishing company )

Oh this is the link to the Amazon listing for our new book just to see if its anything you'd be interested in x:
