Default Making scroll invites - need a little more inspiration

I'm very impressed with myself, for deciding I'm going to make our wedding invites (with the help of my lovely mum!).

But I'm a little stuck. We've decided on scrolls (printed on parchment paper and posted in a silver tube, filled with sparkly confe tti). We're looking for something to make them stand out and impress all of the guests! I'd like to put a heart on the top of them. Have found some fabric paint that's really glossy and nice, but I've gone off it. Do you have any ideas?

I had a heart of the front of my invitations that I stamped in embossing ink and then sprinkled silver embossing powder onto them and heated it. I then had a shiny raised heart.

If you decide to do that, I can send you the embossing powder, as I bought way too much and will never use it! Let me know.

Embossing is great. I have got the stuff and I'll be doing some on my invitations
And the best thing is that your not restricted to one colour.... you can get embossing powder in pretty much any colour.

You could also get a heart paper punch (http://kookykards.com/medpunch.htm), have a look around for some really nice paper then stick the little punched out shapes onto your invites.

have you thought about using heart-shaped beads that you could tie on with ribbon?

Thanks everyone.

I didn't know if embossing was good - I've looked at it in the shops and it seemed a bit pricey to buy just to test out. But it sounds like it's just what I'm looking for.

Nicola - I'd love to take you up on your offer - it fits the colour scheme perfectly! Shall I email you my address?

I don't think I'm creative enough to do beading - but maybe I'll try that too?

The kookycards site is great too. I think I'm going to have some fun experimenting!!

I am pleased to have found a home for my embossing powder. Just PM me your address and I will dig it out for you. Embossing doesn't need to be expensive. I didn't bother with a heating tool, I just held it over the iron. So now you just need to get the ink. Regular stamp pads I think work okay, but embossing ink (in any colour, as the silver will cover it) would probably be best.

Good luck!

Nicola
