Default Anyone got any tips for making invitations etc

We've decided that we are going to have a go at making our own invitations, menu's, place cards etc but we don't really know where to start.

I've seen one design that I really like that is quite simple so I think I am going to have a go at that one. I know that we need to do something simple but has anyone got any hints or tips.

Did you make your own invitations etc? Was it very hard and did it take a long time.

Also does anyone know of any shops or anywhere online where you can buy nice card and ribbons etc that isn't too expensive. I'm to hobbycraft later to see what they have but would be grateful if anyone has any recommendations.

Thanks

T

The Mulberry Bush and Kooky Kards has some nice things for card making.

I am making our wedding invites, orders of service etc too and one thing I would say is use spray glue. It's great stuff for sticking paper and other little bits down. And don't bother with the non-permanent stuff either, it comes off too easily, get the permanent one

All I can say is make them very very simple. They could take hours and hours otherwise. We made ours but I just used card from a stationers, paper likewise and ribbon from the local haberdashers.

Craft Creations have loads of card and paper to choose from, and they make the cards with a line in them which makes folding them virtually foolproof... Lots of different sizes too. I got ours from there and they were great, quick delivery.
As for tips, definitely choose a simple design - they will take you hours anyway! And double sided tape can be v handy for sticking things, as well as almost invisible even through thin paper. Get good quality envelopes cos they'll finish off your invites nicely. And make sure you've got space to put them once you've made them all!
