I need your opinions on this one folks!! When I was younger, I wasnt happy unless I had a pen and paper in front of me or was making something or other. I then went on to do Art at GCSE and A Level and done really well. I also enjoyed it but when I started working after college, gave up doing anything about it. I used to make candles, cushions, cards, anything that was creative really.
Recently, Ive been really bored and thinking of something I could do in my spare time that I would enjoy but there would also be a point to. When I was away last week, we went into a craft shop and mum suggested I should get into making handmade cards and invitations and so on.
I bought a load of stuff as I really liked the idea but wondered whether you all thought it was a good idea or not? I mean, would you buy hand made stuff and give it to people and what do you all think of hand made wedding invites?
We have some samples from some fairs we went to last year and I know I could do better than these (not being big headed, theyre just really bad!)
Mark thinks its a good idea if I want to but just wanted some more opionions.
Whatchya think, should I go for it or leave all the stuff in the bag where it belongs!!!
I think it's a great idea... my friend and I are in the process of making a load of cards to sell. The idea came to us after we started messing around with wedding invitation ideas for me and we realised that we were actually quite good at making cards.
Over the past few months we have slowly been building up our collection of materials and we are having great fun doing it!
It was my nans birthday a few days ago and I gave her one of the cards I had made and she thought it was wonderful!
There is defiantly a market for hand made cards, everyone we have talked to about it has said what a good idea it is so I think you should go for it. Even if you don't sell that many you'll have fun doing it and you'll never have to buy another card again!

I have been building up my collection of card making materials ever since I made my wedding stationery, and now make all of my own cards. I love it. I have not considered selling any of them, as they are not that good, but everyone has appreciated receiving them I think. I went to The Paper Shop in Penrith last week and filled a ream box with fancy papers and cards for £5.99 so there is no stopping me now!
I think it is a lovely idea and if you enjoy it then I'd go for it. I love receiving hand made cards. I'm planning in making my wedding stationary so might have a go at making some crimb cards before to get some practice in.
I know lots of people that love to recieve hand made cards so I'd say to go for it.

What have you got to lose? You've bought the stuff now anyway, get it out and have a play! If you don't like your first attempts it's not the end of the world, but once you've made some you're proud of you can give them to people and maybe even sell them. I've started making cards, and I think it's nicer to receive handmade cards really... seems more personal or meaningful somehow, definitely more creative.
Go on, you know you want to...
Thanks everyone, im going to go for it! What can go wrong ( !!) My friends having a party at Christmas and shes asked me to make her invites so at least someone trusts me!! Ill let you know how they turn out xxx
Ps Rooley, ill be in touch about that offer if i get on ok!! x
I say go for it! It's just an idea but a lot of primary schools have a Christmas fair mid December. It might be worth making some Christmas ones if you have time and having a word with local schools and see if you can have a stall at the fairs.
I know that I'm late into this one but I agree with everyone that you should go for it. One of my friends did my invites and order of services for me and they looked great and very special as they were exactly what we wanted. I think people are for more prepared to pay for really nice hand made cards nowadays. My mum has a stash of really nice hand made cards which she brings out every year!! Good luck.

Well, weve made tons of cards and are really really pleased with them. Mums got right into it as well and were bioth enjoying doing it. Were off to a boot sale in a couple of weeks and are taking a load with us to see if we can get rid of some anddepending on the reaction we get, we might think about doing it seriously.
Everyone whos saw them loves them and think they look really professional so thanks for egging me on to try it!!
