Default Making Invitations-how long does it take?

We've decided to make all of our own stationary. I've sent off for lots of samples and got some ideas and we're going for something quite simple.

For our wedding in October I was thinking about sending then out July/August time. Does this sound about right?

I'm going to order the card etc this week but probably won't do anything until after Christmas now. Can anyone give me any idea on how long it takes to make them as I want to have enough time to try out a few ideas first. Haven't got loads to make, probably about 50ish altogether.

Default How long?

Hi Teresa

As a professional bridal 'crafter' I estimate that to make an invitation would take approximately 10 mins per invite. That includes sticking in the wording insert and adding your design to the front.

It is amazing how long a full order of stationery takes to make. For the average wedding (80 guests, extra invites at night, order of services etc) you are probably looking at about 3 full days work.

My advice would be to do 10 at a time and then take a little break, especially if your design is time consuming. Then you wont get tired and make mistakes. Keeping the design simple is advisable too.

Happy crafting!

I can't really remember how long mine took. Probably about a month and I did it in bits. I started by making hundreds of silver embossed hearts on purple paper. Then I cut them out. Then I mounted them etc etc. I wished that it had taken longer, as I was at a bit of a loose end then.

Our invites (about 25ish) took a weekend to do the front of the card and then another weekend to print the inserts and stick them in. What I found time consuming is finding a font I was happy with and then sorting out a size of the font so that the wording was centered on the insert paper and not too large. You could practice doing that now so that you don't get too stressed later on.

July/August sounds about right for an October wedding.
