Save the date cards HELP..... - Wedding Forum

Hi all,

I was wondering if you can help me. I am wanting to do some save the date cards to send out with christmas cards but I have never actually seen any I've just read about them in mags etc...

Do you know what I should put on them??

This is something we are doing; here are a few possible suggestions. I guess you can have more informal wording if you wish.

Save the Date
for the wedding of
Tiny lastname + Gary Surname
June 24, 2006
Beaucheif Abbey, Sheffield
Invitation to follow

Tiny lastname and Gary Surname
are getting married!
SAVE THE DATE
June 24, 2006
Beaucheif Abbey, Sheffield
Invitation to follow

Please Save the Date
Saturday, the twenty-forth of June
for the wedding of
Tiny lastname to Gary Surname
Invitation to follow

I think the invitation to follow is important as otherwise some people might think that it’s the actual invitation.

You could always do an insert for your Christmas cards, and send them out in early December - saves you the hassle and cost of two lots of postings?

Formal invitations to follow.

We used a template from http://www.weddingchannel.com and then printed them out and posted them.

Ppl were surprisingly impressed and it cost nowt

We got save the date cards for a wedding we went to last year in our Christmas card for the year before, Its a nice wee touch and now we have our venue booked, we are going to do the same.

I wouldnt put the where as its only a save the date card they dont need to know plus its makes it almost identical to an invite

As we are having a small wedding and big night do we need to let people know nicely that it is just the night do...

Gary and suzy are getting Married
and we would love to celebrate with you
So please save the evening of the 24th June 2006
from 7.30 onwards details will follow.

I think the wording you have chosen there is fine.

we are making save the date magnets. we bought a roll of magnet at a craft store and are going to print out photos of us with a saying on them and make magnets into it. thats another idea for you, to get some ideas check out this website! http://www.madeforyoumagnets.com/ http://www.savethedatemagnet.com/

I think these magnets are a great idea! It means people will see the magnet every day on the front of their fridge instead of a piece of paper which might get filed away somewhere!

These are so cool! V good idea for making sure nobody forgets the special date.
I have to say i have only been a member of this website for one week and already i have gotten so many new ideas for the wedding to be.

The cards arrived this week that we will be using, we ordered plane white C6 cards with envelopes of e-bay.

love the fridge magnets.... have saved the links for later..... how soon do you send them? my wedding is not til April 2007!!!! so loads of time but then isnt the point to give some notice...... all confused now :S

i bought blank fridge magnets off ebay and then printed a picture of both me and h2b and put the words save the date at the top and the date of the wedding at the bottom.
We sent them out about 12 month before, to make sure no one booked holidays etc. at the same time as our wedding
