Having decided that I liked Fuzzi Bunz the best, but then realising that we would have to go without food for a month if I wanted to buy enough for two babies to wear full time, I have started making my own. Instead of the approx £10 each of Fuzzi Bunz, mine cost £2 and a few pence each. So far I am very pleased with them. I made a couple about a month ago from a pattern I found online and scraps of fabric I already had, and although they were okay, they were a little narrow, and by the time I had stuffed them, Alex in particular, liked to wee out of the side.
So I bought new fabric, and the correct elastic, and amended the pattern, and here we go... I have made six so far, as that is how many I can get out of a metre of fabric. We shall use them for a week or two and make sure that they don't need any more tinkering with, and then I shall make some more. I need some more PUL, and I shall have a different patterned fleece next time. I already have dozens of prefolds to stuff them with from Nathaniel's days in real nappies. I am very proud of myself!

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.

I don't think that I could sell them, as there are too many other people selling their homemade nappies. Plus I would get sick of them! I hate having my sewing machine out making the place look untidy, so I try to do them all in one go, and then get annoyed with them. I need my own sewing and craft room I think.
Having said that, they are very easy to make, and actually only take about 20 minutes each. I can direct people to the pattern and fabric if anyone is interested.

It is recommended that you use microfleece, but I only had regular fleece for my trial nappy, and found that it worked fine. That you can buy anywhere. PUL is harder to get hold of though, as is the Lastin (clear narrow elastic that stands up to a lot of washing). I found both at http://www.weenotions.wahmall.co.uk/traderplus/ and they also sell the microfleece. I got my PUL on ebay, and paid £5 a metre. It doesn't come up very often though. Oh, and velcro I got at my fabric shop in town. Hammer on poppers that you get on a proper Fuzzi are expensive, and I prefer velcro anyway.
I think that is everything. As I said, I had to adjust the pattern a little, but not by much. My boys are 17lb 10oz and 18lb 12oz and they ought to have months in them yet (I hope).
