Arrow Looking for large sew/iron-on jungle animals

We've gone for a jungle theme in the nursery and I'd like to do something with the front canvas panels on this unit (rolled up in the this pic), which we're using in there for storage, to make it more child orientated and less boring.

We've gone for the Jungle Fever range from Babies R Us with a few Baby Jungle bits from Mothercare as well as a few jungle bits from Vertbaudet - all are the more colourful 'cartoon' type jungle animals.

I was thinking of some kind of large sew-on animal appliques but can't find anything on the net. A big version of the padded animals you find on clothes or bedding basically. Has anyone ever come across this sort of thing and be able to point me in the right direction?

I'm not creative enough to use fabric paints and can't really think of anything else simple to do that leaves the canvas cover washable. Any ideas?

OK so some of them aren't jungle animals - but they're cute!

You could always get some transfer paper and print pictures on it then iron them on! Not sure how good it would be for washing, but maybe you could print them onto calico, and then make them into little soft toys with a bit of wadding. Then you could use velcro to attatch them to the unit, so they can come off for washing, and can also be a toy.

The only thing i can think of is that fuzzy felt stuff as it'd just be a case of cutting out the shapes for the face and layering using glue

But again, where to find the time......or effort!

What about buying the fabric to match your existing scheme and cut out the animals, then overlock or crimp the edges and sew them on. I remember my mum doing this for me when i was small, she made me a Paddington Bear duvet and curtains

Alternatively you could replace the existing canvas fronts with the fabric.

How about getting some stencils and doing outlines onto the canvas with fabric paint?

These are lovely, and its a uk company, even thought the prices are in $

Hi Laurie,

Not sure if your still looking for transfers but what about T-Shirt transfers? You can buy transfer paper that you print on to using a normal printer and and then you can iron the printout on to T-Shirts or in your case the canvas.

I found this on on amazon, looks like some people sell the stuff of ebay too.
