I went on ebay to find some red aran wool to knit Alex an aran hooded jacket (he absolutely loves red clothes) and my search pulled up one that had been knitted by a woman in Ireland. It had way more cables than I would have bothered with.
So I bid on that one and sent her a message asking if she knitted to order. She does, and she has already started on a matching blue one for Theodore! So now I shall knit one for Nathaniel instead. He wants one in red too, obviously thinking that there must be something in this red business that he has previously been missing. I shall buy whatever takes my fancy though as I shall be knitting it!

This kind of continues the lazy theme, as it was really chunky wool and fat needles. It took no time at all - just a big long rectangle, and then I added the roses and leaves because I have a very cool applique knitting book out of the library and I wanted to try them out. I don't care if ponchos are uncool, I love it in the evenings watching TV on the sofa!
The front (excuse the paint on jeans, no make up and extreme hair cut I accidentally had yesterday)

P.S. Unless someone else posts on this thread, it really looks as though I am posting away to myself trying to get my post count up the the next thousand. I could be here a while!

Some days it just isnt worth chewing through the leather straps in the morning!
The poncho was just about 50 stitches I think, and knit every row until it is 140cm. Then attach the short end to one of the long sides. It was supposed to have had a fringe on the other short end, but I wanted to try the roses.
The roses were just cast on 10 stitches - knit one row; purl one row; then knit into back and front of each stitch making 20 stitches; purl back, then the same again making 40 stitches, purl back; and then again making 80 stitches; purl back and then cast off. Then just twist it into a rose shape.
This is the aran jacket (might be a bit small) -

And here are both of them in them. I only realised I had mis-buttoned Alex's when I looked at the photos on here! In my defence he was a moving target. I have just had Alex throwing a strop when I tried to take them off before they went to dig in the garden.
Meanwhile, Nathaniel has a back and one sleeve on his!
