Question How did you get started?!

I've been cross-stitching about 7 years now. I had a car crash and my mum gave me a magazine with a kit attached that she'd had given her. I stitched the small card and then bought a magazine of my own and I've not stopped since.

I prefer making things as presents, especially cards, but I've stitched a few things for me as well

I can't wait until I'm married then I can do a photo stitch of me and Shawn

I was thinking of doing a photo-stitch of a wedding piccie or one from honeymoon too!!

I was always a very crafty kid. Mum taught me to knit quite early on and I knitted quite a few jumpers for myself - I did a gorgeous one with those white and blue Dutch tile designs on it (9 different tile designs on the front). Anyway, I moved on from knitting to crochet, tatting and then tried embroidery. I absolutely hated embroidery so I tried cross-stitch when I was about 16 and I've had the bug since

Well my mother collects dolls houses and made a tiny cushion for one of her houses from a kit and it was cross stitch. I saw it and it was so pretty, I thought I could do that! I quite fancied giving it a go, and so ordered my first one online

The wedding has really got me in the mood for making things. I've always been artistic and I draw too, so deciding to do EVERYTHING for the wedding from invites to order of day has been really enjoyable. I know I'll try loads more different things now.

I've knitted since I was tiny, though I've never done more than a blanket. I'd love to do more.

When i was in second year at uni i shared a house with two girls and they both stiched so i bought my wizard kit to have a go, but i was far to busuy partying ( well iwas a student) when i finished unii i stayed in the town as that was where my job was, i still partyed hard though but didn't really have the money, so i started stitching so that when i stayed in in my dingy bedsit i would have something to do rather than pine for the pub, needless to say i haven't looked back and am totlay addicted now

i've always been artistic too and mum taught me to knit and my sister has always done all crafts from spinning wool to stiching and tapestry and makeing her own clothes and everything else you can think of so i've always thought if she can so can i so i have, i was going to make a career of it by studying at the roayl school of needlework but decided to get my degree first and havent had the chance3 to go back to stiching full time but i still enjoy it as a hobby

I want to cross-stitch for a living. One of the parents at my school does and I keep meaning to ask her what it is she does!

I know of someone who charges to finish cross-stitches and if this would pay the rent I'd do it!

Wow, imagine that!

I wonder what it is she does.

some comapnies and cross stitch shops employ people to stitch there new kits ( in the case of companies) and shops sometimes employ people to stitch up examples for display in the shop, i've thought about it for when i have childeren but i don't think they get paid alot

I read about that is one of the magazines once. I think they'd had a request from one of their readers asking if she could stitch for them and they said that they had a waiting list of people wanting to stitch for them and that they'd used the same stitcher for years!!
