Default My next project!

This is basically a repeat of a piece I made for my cousins wedding years ago (you've all seen it before actually). I didn't think I would be able to easily make it for my own wedding because of the skin colour differences between me and the piece (tis of a couple on their way down the aisle). However, I found the designer's website today and she gives substitutions for african-american skin, so I've ordered the chart and all the threads! Hurrah!! I'll have a fiddle around and change the bloke's haircolour too since he's ginger and Dave is blonde.

I've also been very brave and ordered some really finely textured linen rather than aida. I'm hoping that this will become an heirloom in our family and even though I've found linen to be difficult in the past, I think the results will be worth it as linen gives a more delicate result than aida (in my opinion, that is). I've also found a site which specialises in framing cross-stitch and needlework, so I am planning on having it framed by them once its done.

I am very excited! I've always wanted to make this for my wedding and now I can!

Emma - is Mirabella the same as Lavendar & Lace? Its definitely a L&L chart that I've ordered.... I was trawling through some mailing lists for the designer and someone managed to finish this piece in six weeks I think that 6 months will be more appropiate for me

Btw, what stitching magazines are available these days?

you're right it is lavender and lace, they do similar designs, as for stitchinmg mags i buy Crossstitcher, the world of cross stitching and cross stitch collection which is very good but non of their designs are aimed at beginners, the other two are good general mags
