Default Table Plan

Hi

I was wondering, for those of you who are making your own table plans, how you are making them?

We went to see our venue all set up for a wedding on Saturday (and it looked sooo nice!!), and their was a lovely gold frame thing on an easel for the Bride & Groom to display their table plan. The frame is huge and the couple had just printed their guests names in collums on an A4 sheet of paper. To be honest, and this is just my personal opinion, the paper was too small for the frame and didnt look quite right. I want my table plan to look nice and kind of stand out. I dont want it to be over the top - just nice, you know?

So, anyone making anything a bit different? I saw some in You & Your Wedding mag and I know Diane (I think it was Diane anyway! Sorry if I got it wrong..) copied one from there which looked really good! (& better than paying someone 50.oo for it )

I just wondered what your ideas were? Being nosey really

Hi Bianca

I made my own table plan, and it looked just as good for those that cost £50+

The whole thing cost me about £20

I bought a gold frame, backing card and then printed the names of our guests onto fancy A4 paper. I cut the names out using fancy edged scissors and then stuck them onto the card. Added a few fancy clipart style pictures.... hey presto!!

Saved loads of cash and people were very impressed with it!!

HTH

Maybe calligraphy pens are a good idea? I hate those ones that are a piece of A4 tacked to a big board!

If I had photos off all my guests, I'd do another Hello! Type one! Maybe I should anyway - match my invites!

Calligraphy always looks so nice, I have never tried but I suppose | could get one of those beginners packs and try to learn..

That would look lovely - thanks for the ideas both of you I really like your fancy scissors idea Janey!

I used one of those wire photo stands where all the wires radiate from a base and have metal clips on the end and I attached a printed list for each table to each wire. I also included a little map of the room so people could find their table, and a card saying our names and the date that sat in the middle. I wish I had a scanner as the photographer took a photo. Everyone could choose where they sat on our tables we just listed what table they should sit on

I only came up with this after seeing how crap the one the hotel made was. No one said they had a problem using it or finding a seat.

Another nice idea is to use name cards and to write the table number/name on the inside and to arrange these on trays. magazines show lots of things being used for this from cocktail umbrellas, to favours. Guests then pick up their card and find the table they are on.

You could just use the easel to announce your names and the date, or put a poem on it for people to read as they are filing in.

I'm just doing ours at the mo. The venue has a frame, I'm doing it on A3 paper, nothing too fancy, in columns with nice readable font.

Will you list your plans by table or by people alphabetically?

By table - I'm toying with the idea of giving mine 'special edition' names of OK! type - but not sure what I could call them all.....

I am going to do them all with the same logo but in defferent colours....

Oh yes, that sounds really good

Have decided that ours will still be on the deep red and gold theme, maybe gold card stuck onto a slightly bigger red card so there is a red edge to it.. that's about as far as I have got!

I am going to have a list of peoples names (alphabetically) and next to the name will be a number. Then there will be a plan of the room, pic of round tables which are numbered so they can see which table to head for rather than mill about looking at each table to see if it is theirs.

What do you think?

At work I have the use of a plotter so am going to plain print circles for tables (it'll be A2 size) and use the same font as on our invites for the workding, then at home decorate it using the stamp we are using on our invites (Hero Arts "Raindrops and Swirls") in silver ink and possibly some of the green mulberry paper to jazz it up a bit. A3 paper is also a good option.

I've just done one for Bev and John (I also created and printed ours).

Seeing as I work in DTP and have use of presentation packages, I didn't see the point of paying £50.00 to somebody else!

I'm happy to have a go at doing some of yours if you'd like. However, obviously depends on how much time you have an how busy I am at work.

I printed both the table plans i've done onto A4 paper and then simply got them enlarged (in colour to A3/A2 size) at our local photocopy centre.

One (fairly) professional looking table plan for the grand sum of £3.99.

Bargain!!

I gave Bev 2 examples according to her table plan just so you can see them. Bev had long tables in the formation shown below whereas we had round tables.

Her colour scheme was burgundy and silver (detail isn't very good - soz)

What do you think?

*Polishes knuckles*.

They only take about 45 mins to a maximum of 2 hours if anyone wants one.

I can just e-mail them across and then you can print them and enlarge them at your end.
