Default My feathers have clumped!

I've been painting those long feathers on stalks for my headdress - with fabric paint - and they've all gone very thin!

Will they be better when I iron them out?

And if not, what do I need to do next time to stop them clumping?

Are you painting feathers? I think dying them would be better, as you want them to change colour not to coat them in something in the colour you want. Still god knows how you would do it - perhaps use cold water dye where you just soak things in the liquid dye and them let them dry out.

Good thinking Eleanor

I was thinking you could try spray painting them Nikki, but Eleanor's idea is much better

You need to dye them Nikki, and the dye doesn't take as well as it does on clothes so you might need to leave them in longer. Then you can blow dry them or just leave them to dry! If you paint them the paint coats the feathers and makes them look bedraggled, but if you dye them the colour penetrates and it looks better.

Imagine the difference between dying your hair and painting it..........does that help?
