How's it going girl? You must have done heaps more on your cross stitch! I was thinking of you at the weekend when I was doing some of mine

Its going pretty well, thanks Bee!! I have done a fair bit and I did take a picture but you can barely see all the white in it I think I will just take a scan of it when its done and the colours will show up much better!!

I'm onto my fourth skein of white and have invested in some platinum needles as the one I was using tarnished horribly and then broke!

I've got a few even bigger projects lined up for when I finish this one - Noah's Submarine (a twist on Noah's ark) and the RainForest afghan (huge afghan with loads of beautiful rainforest animals and a shimmery rainbow).... I'm sorely tempted to start one to just give me a break from the sea of white....

What are you working on just now?

I haven't done any cross stitch for ages.... I don't think I'd do a very good job if I had a go at even the simplest of ones designed for children!

Sounds like its coming on well! I am like you, I have been working on this one for so long now I really feel like starting a new one for a break, but I have promised myself that I have to finish this one first. I am going to do a big one my mum bought me next, its medieval and when its finished I am going to put it in our dinning room. It will look lovely but I know its going to take forever to do!

I love the sound of your Noahs Submarine! How cute.

Its very tempting, isn't it?? I think I will finish off a bookmark tonight instead of working on all that white!

Here's a pic of Noah's sub http://www3.sympatico.ca/dani_b/ns/subindex.html ... I snapped it up in an e-bay auction (pattern went out of print years ago apparently and now goes for $50 or so in auctions!!!!)

Oh, that is gorgeous!! It would be lovely done on a really fine linen... I do like the majority of the egyptian design's that I've seen but I don't have time to sew them www.sewandso.co.uk has loads of egyptian designs...

Noah's sub will be huuuuuge... it uses about 160 different colours (only had 20 of them already!!) so I am slowly buying colours as and when I remember. Still haven't decided whether I am brave enough to try using evenweave for it rather than aida...

Evenweave is between the two extremes of aida and linen. It has a soft and supple feel to it and is woven in the same way as linen, however, all the fibers are the same thickness (in linen you get a thick and a thin fiber) and there are no slubs or bobbles like you get from linen. Its generally made from cotton too, so easier to wash and doesn't crease as badly as linen does!

I've seen designs stitched on it (and linen) and they have a much finer appearance than those on aida (mainly because the holes aren't as obvious!) so I'm keen to try and use evenweave (tried linen and hated the slubs). I've bought a tiny piece of 20ct to see if I like it

Oh I see. It sounds very nice, if you can get on with it I think the finished result will be lovely
