Default Lake District

Hi,

We are probably going to go away middle/late Oct for a long weekend. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel/country B&B in the Lake District? I've only been once before, and we stayed in Ambleside which was quite cute but would like to stay somewhere else this time. I've found 2 nice ones in Windermere but still want to look about.

Also, anyone know of anywhere interesting to visit? Last time we were there we did a lot of hill walking in the rain (was great though, we like walking) and had a tour of a family run (working) coal mine which was brilliant.

Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated!

Thanks

The Groovy Cottage is quite cheap in the middle of October. We are staying in one of them the week beginning the 11th October for our anniversary. Be careful to avoid the half term week near the end of October, as they obviously sky rocket around then. That is when my parents-in-law are staying there! I would highly recommend them and there is loads to see and do around there. If nothing else you get a free pass to the North Lakes Spa, so you could spend the week excercising or being pampered!
