Default Looking for a swish hotel

I'm after a nice romantic hotel (log fires, 4 poster beds, jacuzzi etc) preferably in the north of England. I was looking at the Lake District but I dont really know where to begin! I dont have much experience of hotels, im more a caravan cheap and cheerful kinda gal!

Me and Neal want to get away on our own for a couple of nights when he gets back from the Falklands, and if we head up North then we can drop the kids off at Grandmas for the weekend

Not too fussy on price, but obviously if I can get something lovely and cheap too then thats a bonus.

Help me please!

Dawn xx

We stayed at a lovely quiet B&B in Portmerion a few months back, which was £60 per night. They have a 4 poster room, but none of the other stuff. If you can pay between £100 and £200 a night, then staying in Portmerion itself is a great experience. If you stay in the Castle, they have plasma TVs, etc as that is more aimed at the American/Jap tourists so more modern/luxury, wheras staying in the village itself is a lovely quaint experience.

Not sure what any of these are like.... but here's a few ideas to get you started.....

Sounds like you've got this well planned...... not bad going and I bet you'll have a fantastic time!

The tourist board might have a few hints as well.... www.cumbria-the-lake-district.co.uk

PS Hope you're feeling better and the "smoking class" went well yesterday!

OMG I am in love with that last one! Thats definitely the kind of thing I had in mind... pure unadulterated luxury Will definitely show that one to Neal - he was the one who said "no expense spared" afterall! He may live to regret that! lol

J, Ive been to Portmeirion years ago and it was fantastic, I always wanted to go and stay on the actual village site. But I think I'd like to take the kids there, so maybe thats one for another time.

Heather - smoking thing went good. Ive told them I dont want any patches or drugs etc as Ive managed 9 days on my own now and dont really want to get reliant on something else as a substitute for the fags! It doesnt stop me wanting one though! I'm craving so badly, but I have to keep on telling myself to think of my health and how i felt on Friday night. Plus I just treated myself to £70 of clothes in town on the spur of the moment and I cant afford any ciggies now! LOL Ive chewed off all my nails, and I cant stop eating. Ho hum, I'll be a 90 stone non smoker at least

Sounds like a good enough incentive to me

You'll do yourself proud and it won't be long before you're counting in weeks & months rather than days of being "Ciggie free"
