Holiday help please!!!
Well it is that time in the year when the Harrington Campbells wish to leave the shores of the UK for sunnier climates. This year is no exception!!! Thing is, neither the old man or myself have any idea of where to go.
So this is where hopefully your help comes in!! We are looking to go away in or around the 20/09 for 10 nights (14 perhaps a real push). We would love sun and temps in the mid to late 20's. Somewhere in Europe is ideal as he in doors is not found of the flying (not a fan myself as well). Want to stay in a hotel, half board and no less than 4* (well, it will also be our 1st anniversary!). And we would like all this for £500 a head.... is it possible??? Now I am not sure if this is also to include the flights (although I would say that would be impossible to get!).
So any takers in helping me find our anniversary destination? Don't worry, I fully intend to txt Dawnie while on hols and perhaps even send her a pic or two of us by the pool! (well, its the least I could do in returning the favour!)
Jac

Hope you manage to find something. We went to Malta a couple of years ago for 2 weeks, stayed in a 4* hotel half board for about £550 each so I'm sure you'll be able to find something.
I've seen some great last minute deals around too so might be worth looking for some of them.

Oh lots to go through here! thanks chicks!
Teresa - I would love to go to Malta but Trevoretta went to Gozo about 7-8 years ago and lived there for about 6 months (ish). Not that he didn't like the place, quite the opposite but just wants to go to a place that he has not been before.... which brings me on to Africa.
Oh Decords - I would so love to go on Safari!! but again this is a no due to the little fecker I am married to. You see, the whole idea of going to an amazing place, nothing like he has ever been to before, to see amazing animals in the flesh (so to speak) does not appeal to him... why? I hear you ask. Well, it is because of the exposure to the african mozzies (at least I think that is the reason).
As for turkey. A number of people I know that have been there have painted a poor picture of the place. It seems like a a package holiday destination which is fine but not us.
I have trev looking up walking holidays as I type (well, that is what he is meant to be doing. He better not be doing anything else, like say, working). Thinking of one week long distance walking somewhere warm in europe and then the second week staying somewhere by the sea and relaxing. The only difficult thing we are finding is finding a tour company or whatever that do guided tours (there is no way I would trust either myself or Trev to follow maps and compasses).
Will look at what is here for the second part of the trip. Needless to say, we will have to go over our budget for this but that's fine. It should be worth it!
Thanks again for all your hard work and effort!
Jac

How about these for walking holidays:

I have never fancied Turkey either. Paul's cousin went to Austria and Switzerland last year on a walking type of holiday and had a great time.

D'oh! What a bummer!
Why not look at places that Ryanair and the other budget airlines fly direct to and then find a hotel separately rather than go for a package?
Otherwise www.expedia.co.uk often do decent last minute deals, and your anniversary would certainly be classed as last minute!
I keep getting recommended a place in Italy called Sienna that is meant to be amazing and very relaxing, although not a beachy place.

Thanks for that laur. Yeah, we are going for the "separates" (so to speak! other than the honeymoon, I don't think we have ever gone for a package...oh, wait, we did one other time to Italy (Mark Warner).).
Will check out your recommendations... all destinations are dependant on the temps at this time of year. We are not too bothered about a beachy holiday! (not like we are going to get tans and turns out trev doesn't really care about a beach one way or another).
