Default New Year's Eve in Paris?

We're thinking about going away for New Year. I always find it a massive let down no matter what I end up doing (I hate going into town on new years eve as it's all fighting and vomiting in the street, and the idea of throwing a party is a damp squib cos I can never get enough friends together in the same place at the same time!!!) so we're considering getting away from it all ...

I thought about Paris as I've always wanted to go...Managed to find two return flights for £138 total, leaving on 30 Dec and coming back 2 Jan. Does anyone know any good websites/travel agents for hotels? I'm thinking up to £220 for the 3 nights. Also any ideas of good places to go/see in Paris - and particularly where to spend New Years Eve?

Another idea was maybe Edinburgh or Dublin....

Please help, you seasoned travellers!!

I have used www.laterooms.com for a lot of cheap hotels here and abroad, also try www.octopustravel.com, we booked lots of accomodation through them cheaply for our big trip last year. I have also stayed in several citadines and kyriad places in france. Both were quite reasonable and nice, and i think they both have websites.
Have fun

Just had a quick look on octapus travel, and there are stacks of different Paris hotels from just £145 for the 3 nights.

I've never been to Paris so can't offer any advice on where to go. Sounds lovely though and I hope you have a great time.

I'm looking to go to Paris in November so will post if I find anything as I trawl the web.
