Well, we arrived late (about 10pm) at the hotel and so rushed down to dinner even before seeing our room (priorities!!). It was an italian buffet (hmmm!) and I just knew from that point on it was going to be a "eating holiday"! The hotel was just amazing! Better than in the pics on their web site. It was rather big but felt just the right size. Our room was fab as well and the toileteries were sooooooo great! The room over looked the pool and had a great view of the sea. Every morning I would sit/stand on the balconey and decide where we would park ourselves by the pool. Due to the fab design and layout, it never felt crowded down there.
We did bugger all for the first couple of days there other than relax (well you know how stressfull my life is.....!). We did take a little walk up to the "strip" out side of the grounds but to be honest the pubs and eateries there were a bit on the scary side. Like Paula, I am usually not one for lying around doing nothing (did too much of this when ill I think) but there was something different about this place - perhaps it was the healthy fruit and veg cocktails by the pool that kept me there, maybe it was the temp and the sun - just right, maybe it was my abilty to swim (yippeeee!!!) for the first time with confidence. In the mornings, I tried to take advantage of the classes in the spa (yoga, aqua aerobics) but if I miss them through misadventure the previous evening, we would go to the gym in the early evening. It was not that I wanted to become extra healthy... more that I wanted to continue to fit in my clothes. The food was just too good and too much there for all meals.
Excuding the night we arrived, the next couple of evenings were a bit on the sedate side. There was not a lot to do there and most of the people there were in their "private couple" thing. As I am someone who enjoys going out and chatting to anyone that listens, this was a bit of a shock to the system but after the first couple of nights, we met up with others.
Trev and I like our own company journing the day and have to say we did nothing but laugh. I still find Trev so amazing in that even though I know him 14 years, he still cracks me up with his sence of humour. I think I have laughed for the past 11 days.
When there there were a couple of the girls from Corrie also staying in the hotel - I think there were pics of them in the Sun last week sunbathing. There is also going to be some big party there in the coming months... I got chatting to the bloke who was out there organising it while we were waiting for our treatments in the spa one day. He also has his own private members club back here in london which he has invited the old man and myself to pop into (something I truely intend to take him up on!). Rumour also has it that there was some english footballer staying there as well but needless to say, if he wasn't either Roy Keane or Beckham, I would not recognise him.
One day we went to visit the Tombs of Kings.... or holes in the gounds which trev called them.... Boring! There was also an art exhibition in Nicosia (a bloody long way away from us) that trev went to see. He fell in love with on of the pics and so he is now an art collector (ha! ha!). It will be shiped over to us on the 10/10 but in the mean time Trev is spending his time drooling over the pic in the brochure.
We also had our first weddding anniversary there. This began with breakky on the balcony and the exchanging of gifts. Trev loved his star (thanks for the advise!!) and he got me some lovely stuff... It was a very special day for us. It felt like a mini wedding day in a way. The hotel provided us with a bottle of bubbly and a chocolate cake in our room (on the house!) and that evening we made arragements to meet up with one of the couples we met for a quick drink before we went up to the old town for dins dins. They ordered a bottle of bubbly to celibrate (the kindness of strangers!) so after a quick glass, we headed off. The place where we went to was just perfect. We ate Maze that although has a lot of meat dishes, there was still loads for me to eat. On our return to the hotel, we met up with another couple we had met and invited them to join us for a drink of the bottle the hotel gave us. When this was finished, they then bought another.... yep to say we all felt rough the next day would be an understatement so I had to just lie out by the pool, take little swims and thank God I had an eye treatment done the day before in that my eyes were not buffy and scary looking.
I am sure there is a lot more to say but can't think of any. Regarding pics, well the hubbie bought a digi cam before we left and so I shall be posting them on here as of monday (our drive has died and so can't load them up on this pile of poo - trev will have to do it from work).
A final tip to all thoughs who get St. Trop tans done... get Clarins after sun with tanning in it. It makes the ST go a long way in terms of lasting on the skin.
Well, that's all for now. I will be holding a Q&A seccession as and when one wishes to ask something!
Right, any questions from the floor?
Still waiting for the hubbie to bring the cam into work to "develope" them. I am sure I shouted out a reminder to him this morning from my cosy warm bed to bring it in with him today. So selfish!
