Our honeymoon in the Maldives
Just thought I'd post a few piccies of our honeymoon. We had the most amazing time and it really is like paradise. The beaches are pure white sand and mostly the weather was lovely. We had a few days with a bit of rain and one day it was like a monsoon all day but most of the time it was gorgeous.
We didn't go until Monday night and my mum and dad took us to the airport. The flight was pretty bad. We'd paid extra to get seats by the doors because Paul is tall and even though I took the letter that Monarch had written to us about the lady on the check in desk was really funny with us. Eventually we got it sorted and checked in. Said goodbye to my mum and dad and went through to the departure lounge. As the flight wasn't till late most of the shops were closed apart from the duty free. We got a couple of bargains and then sat and waited for our flight. It was all couples and alot of them were on their honeymoon.
The flight was pretty bad and the food wasn't too good. We'd taken a supply of crisps and choccie with us though!!! After 11 hours we arrived. The airport at the Maldives is tiny and after collecting our bags we had a little wait till we got the boat that was going to take us to the island. It was about an hour to get there and the views were lovely. As soon as we got there we got off the boat atthe end of the jetty and walked along to the bar where we all got a welcome drink, filled in a form and got our keys. It started to rain which made us laugh but sooned cheered up.
We had a lovely little bungalow right on the beach which was gorgeous. We had a jacuzzi on the veranda and a outside shower in the garden too along with a huge great bit bed that was covered on rose petals.
We went all inclusive and had never done this before but it was really good. The food was lovely and there was a good choice every day. The one thing that made me laugh was that you could have curry and garlic bread for breakfast!!!
The first few days were quite lazy and we spent alot of time on the beach, swimming in the sea and doing some snorkelling. We'd prebooked some diving so started this near the end of the first week. The diving was amazing and was so clear and warm too. No need for wetsuits like over here. We saw so many different fish and even dived with sharks, turtles and dolphins. We've got a few piccies being sent to us so if they are any good I'll post them up for you. I'm not too good on boats and get a bit seasick so spent alot of the time diving feeling a bit queasy. I was Ok once I was in the water but the trips out and back I was a bit dodgy and spent a few of them with my head over the side!!!! Paul just thought this was really funny and alot of people took the mick as I was the only one who got ill but we were only having a laugh. The diving was truly amazing and we did a lot more than we thought we would as it was so good. We had one of our dives videoed too and so watched that last night which was really good.
We hired a jetski one day which was really good fun although we spent more time in the water as we kept falling off. I had a go at parasailing too which was brilliant fun. We met lots of people that were on their honeymoon too and a few couples had got married on the same day as us as well so it was nice to compare stories. We did a night fishing trip one evening too which although it was good fun neither me or Paul managed to catch a fish. I got a bit of coral though!!! I think maybe we need to have another go. We did an island hopping trip another day where we went to Male which is the main island and had a wander round. There wasn't much there and there were only a few shops but it was nice to see.
We had a wonderful time there. All the people are so friendly and can't do enough for you. We managed to really relax and chill out which was great and I'd highly recommend it for your honeymoon. Oh and the spa was lovely too.

Paul enjoying a glass of wine on our last night. We sat and had a meal at the Italian Restaurant on the end of the pier and watched the fish.

teresa im so glad you had a wonderful time , it also brings back memories of my honeymoon in the maldives its truly such an amazing place to be quite hard to beleive that there could be such paradise just 11 hours away !
we also flew with monarch and found them crap aswell your like sardines packed into a tin on the plane, ive said to simon if we ever do a long haul flight again id deffinatly pay for the upgrade as i think it would be worth it to have some comfort on such a long flight !
im really glad you enjoyed it though and I bet you didnt want to leave.
Which resort did you end up going to ?
Love

Hi Teresa
We flew with Monarch when we went to Florida, and also thought they were absolutely rubbish. We hope to never use them again they were that bad.
I'm glad you both had a wonderful honeymoon. Sorry to hear you had some sea-sickness. Yucky!
The photos are absolutely stunning!! Wow!!! Just gorgeous Teresa. Thanks for sharing them with us. xxxx

It all sounds and looks incredible. I've always wanted to go there and you've made me want it even more! I'm going to show the photos to Lee in the hope that he'll feel the same as me!
Which tour operator did you book with? (Hope you don't mind me asking). x

We stayed at Paradise Island REsort and Spa which is on Lankanfinolhu.
The flights both ways were awful and we've said we will never fly with MOnarch again. We spoke to lots of people who said the same thing too. Never mind we had a fantastic time apart from that.
