Spent a little bit of time there, but more in Brugge & Antwerp. Definitely recommend waffles with fresh cream and fruit! Oh, and a cone of chips with mayonnaise. Can't have my chips any other way now. Belgium is very negotiable by train btw - only takes 3 hours to get from one side to the other. The odd 'alstublieft' (please), 'dank U' (thank you) and 'Hallo/tot ziens' (hello/bye) will get you a long way. Except, of course when they're French speakers - probably in Brussels LOL.

Lovely place...although I was theer with work so didn't see all that much. I would reccomend the beer...but alas in your current condition! The chocoalte are mouthwatering though. It is foodie heaven, and the people are lovely. The mannequin De pis (sp???!!!) is actually a fake, and the real one is somewhere else, but it has some interesting history. I see m to remember that it was split into Quarters, of different languages, although alas, most of my memories of Brussells are a bit blurred (See earlier mention of beer)
Hope you have a lovely time!

Kriek beer is gorgeous, there are lots of fab restaurants, mussels are very popular, its not bad for shopping.
We did the open top bus trip round the city ( we always do when we go somewhere. We generally do a full loop on Saturday morning to get our bearings and decide what we want to see more of, and then use it as a hop on hop off service for the rest of the weekend.
If you like tintin you are in for a real treat!

The mention of my child's name may bring tears to my eyes,
But it never fails to bring music to my ears.
If you are really my friend,
let me hear the music of her name!
It soothes my broken heart and sings to my soul!
I'm going to Brussels too, in December for the day on Eurostar - we're going from the new terminal at Ebbsfleet & got a cracking 2 for 1 offer by shopping at Bluewater.....we chose December so we get to hit the xmas markets too.... )
anyone interested in the offer you need to head to: Bluewater 2 for 1 Promotion and the password is ashford (you need to book by 31 Oct for travel between 19 Nov & end of Feb) only cost us £58 for 2 people....

I got to spend some time with ben's cousin's children. They're lovely! In fact, I spent so much time with them that I only had time to eat mussles, chocolate and drink beer!
