Suggestions anyone?

We want to go away the first week in July but don't know where! Fancy somewhere different (i.e not Spain or Greece) but can't go too far (i.e America) as I can only get a week off and can't manage more than say a 4hr flight without needing time off work to recover when we get back! I want sunshine but not just a beach holiday (would like places to visit) and we're not too fussed on nightlife- as long as there's some nice places to eat, anyone got any ideas?

How about Italy - the Amalfi coast is really lovely but the beaches I saw aren't really sandy, more rocky. I stayed in Amalfi a few years ago which was lovely (would love to return there or in Positano or go to Sorrento). Loads of great eating places, fab people spotting opportunities, shops, loads of history (Pompei) and it'll be quite hot in July.

Or the South of France (St Tropez, Cannes, Nice)/ Northern Italy?

Or how about Cyprus (e.g Paphos). You could do a day trip to the mountains to see an old monastery or hire a car - they drive on the same side of the road as here.

yeah i might look in to Italy, I fancy Cyprus but David went a fews back and doesn't want to go back yet- i might have to persuade him

Hmm, what about Morroco? I am not sure exactly how long the flight is, but it is supposed to be gorgeous...and plenty to do and see.
