Paris - any recommendations?
We are going to Paris for a grown ups only weekend in May on Eurostar (J booked it as surprise when he came back from there last week) and I really want a nice boutiquey style sexy hotel to stay in. We take A everywhere we go normally, and so I am liking the idea of somewhere grown up and just for us.
Any recommendations of where to stay? Or what to see and do? I have been once when I was 18 with my bro and we did some tourist stuff, but never as a big girl
Thank you xx

I have no idea. My friend is going and I was about to say I'll ask her when she gets back but she goes the month after you so that would be too late

Thats so weird I was just looking at hotels in Paris for my boss for May time! Weird!! Will be very interested to see if anyone comes up with any nice ideas! I looked on this site paris hotels - hotel in paris - France - reservation and found it pretty good. Thing about Paris is you need to decide what arrondissement you want to stay in to narrow down your choice

We spent only a day in Paris a couple of years ago when we went for a week, the main place we went to was the Louvre which is outstanding and definately worth a visit. Bit of an obvious one I guess, but still worth going

The Louvre is one place I want to go so I can see Nike of Samothrace. I fell in love with it when I studied Greek Art at school and have always wanted to see it. At the moment I have a small one at home I bought in Greece.
Rools can you speak French or have a decent understanding of it? We had a French boy stay here once on an exchange thing and he fetched me a lovely book about Paris but it's all in French. If you'd understand it you're welcome to have a look and see if there's any suggestions in there of things to do

I would love to go back
We did two tourist things int he whole time we were there. Steve wanted to go up the eiffel tower again and I wanted to revisit the Rodin museum ( I love that place)
The rest of the time we spent walking around in the parts of Paris were there are no tourists and eating in little quiet places where the locals eat. It was lovely and blissful and how you imagine Paris witht he squares with trees and old people sitting on their steps watching the world go by. The worst bit for me was the eiffel tower. Full of loud americans and annoying Japanese. IF I had to live ina city I would quite happily make it PAris

I can't speak French by the way. Well apart from saying pidgin words loudly whilst gesticulating and hoping someone takes pity on me and knows a bit of English, I am also good at pointing and smiling
Bron, we try and do what you described when we are away, just walking and soaking it all up. I want to do the Louvre and Eiffel Tower for the view, and Notre Dame for Mass on Sunday.
Claire those hotels look AMAZING, out of my price range though, but I enjoyed going through them all

mon francais c'est ...pretty rubbish aussi. I understand a lot more than I speak. The French really do appreciate the effort though so I tend to smile lots and say the few words I do know. They seem to like that better than the speak a bit louder form.

Last time I went was eons ago... but we went on a dinner cruise on the Seine and it was fabulous.... tres romantique! Beautiful views of the sights all lit up at night. Can't remember which company it was with, but we were treated wonderfully and it wasn't just a bunch of obnoxious foreign tourists along for the ride with us.
I loved just walking around the city... going every which direction and just enjoying whatever we stumbled upon.

Have a look at Hotel Reservations. Discount Hotels Worldwide - you might find something you like a wee bit cheaper. What sort of budget are you looking at (feel free to PM me if you don't want to say here) - I'm happy to have a look as I have stuff all to do in work at the mo.
