Neil and I decided to take a couple of days off work and have a long weekend next weekend as he has a couple of annual leave days he has to use by the end of the month or lose them. He's been away with work a lot recently so we've not had much time together so I arranged to take those days off too and we had originally planned to just potter around at home, maybe have a daytrip here or there.
However he emailed me at work today to see if I fancied going away somewhere for a few days and he had found a really cute little cottage in Devon that was available! I told him to book it quick before I had time to think about it and change my mind! (We are desperately trying to save up for a deposit to buy a house and holidays have been most definitely off the menu for quite some time!)
I know it probably doesn't sound that exciting but we haven't been away anywhere for ages and I've been feeling really fed up at work recently so this is just something to look forward to. I'm sooo excited and can't wait to just get away from everything for a few days.
It looks lovely, have a fab time, it sounds like you both deserve it
I'm so jealous, could do with a break myself!

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.
Hope you have a fantastic amazing time! If you fancy a drive out, Sidmouth and Beer are near, I love Beer in the Spring, and Branscombe too. There is a pub for a nice pint and something to eat, and then the beach is so deserted and the waves make a sound that I've not heard anywhere else on the pebbles on the beach. Instant relaxation
We got back from our weekend away this afternoon and we had such a lovely time.
The cottage was nice, small but clean and cosy and very, very peaceful. (Except for friday night when we thought the roof was coming off in the wind!!)
Rools, we went down to Beer and it was gorgeous, we sat and ate pasties for lunch listening to the waves on the pebbly beach. We also went to the donkey sanctuary at Sidmouth which was good but a little sad to see all the unwanted and previously neglected donkeys they care for there. I love donkeys but they always seem so sad.
We had a lovely meal in a little local hotel (that used to be the schoolhouse in the village) on the saturday night and since it was only us and one other couple who were staying at the hotel we had a lovely chat with the owners who told us some rather eye opening things about the goings on of the locals!! They even gave us a couple of bottles of local ale to take away with us for nothing.
Yesterday we went to Dartmoor and went for a nice (but a bit strenuous in places) walk. Then we just drove around through loads of little villages and towns and had fish and chips after a walk along the beach in Teignmouth.
Today we went up to Bristol on our way home and went to the zoo!!!
It was lovely to get away but I'm looking forward to my own bed tonight. There's no bed quite as comfy as your own (I have been having some very very odd dreams the last few nights and so ahven't really felt as rested as I would have liked.
Anyway we had a fab time and its just a shame it was only for a weekend.
I must have missed this before you went away! It looks gorgeous - I'd love to be able to do something like that. Glad you had a lovely time, apart from the wind!!
