Canary Islands - Recommendations? - Wedding Forum

Hi everyone,

We're thinking of booking a package holiday to one of the Canaries in February. Was going to look for self catering, but might consider hotels now with the euro being as it is would mean we'd have to buy less food over there!

Have any of you been to any, and if so, can you recommend any island/resort/accomodation? We want somewhere fairly near the beach for the three of us and Max is 2 1/2.

I havn't been myself but my parents have just got back from Tenerife, they go every Jan and love it. Im sure Rools has been to Fuerteventura and was singing it's praises.

I love, love, love Fuerteventura!! We stayed in Correlejo 5.5 years ago and would love to go back. I have been looking at a wee winter holiday so might see you there

Oh and we stayed in apts, so couldn't recommend any hotels xx

Hi Rach

We went to Lanzarote. I know its got a name 'Lanzagrote' but we thought it was lovely what we saw of it, and different too. You can get a boat to Fuerteventura, you can see the island from Lanzarote. Think its a very short journey - 30 mins or so.

We didnt want to go to Tenerife because of the black sand on most of the beaches.

We stayed at Puerto Del Carmen at a Riu hotel - the beach was across the road from the hotel. We stayed All Inclusive. The food at Riu hotels is amazing, and its such a lovely atmosphere.

This is where we stayed, we would love to go back one day as we enjoyed ourselves so much Riu Hotels & Resorts

been to fuerteventura before and like jen we stayed in Correlejo at the los d elfines apartments im talking about 10 yr ago tho so no idea what its like now it was lovely when we went and not very commercialised but its probably changed over the years now

we done lanzerote on a day trip and to be honest I didnt rate it although fire mountains were good

I love Fuerteventura out of the Canaries, and like staying at Caleta De Fuste, and i highly recommend the Barcelo there

It;s right on the beach, and has sea views from most of the rooms, but and has nightly cool entertainment and cocktails

Gran Canaria is also nice if the flights are cheaper, but avoid the big resorts, Puerto Mogan is GORGEOUS
