The Lake district? You could go on lovely picnics and do a bit of sailing a la "Swallows and Amazons".

Huddersfield is lovely in the summer

North Wales, Anglesey particularly, is also very nice.

Or you could get a ferry to Ireland?

You're not that far from the Lakes, Mark and I had a long weekend there last year. Stayed in a lovely B&B in Windermere, and coz it rained so much spent most of the time in arcades! Great fun

Also, you have to go to their museum and see the diving ducks! It's so funny to watch

I wish Nick and I had got away this summer! Too late now.....

Lakes are lovely - and closeish to you. Warwick and Stratford come highly recommended ( and so near to me!). Or the Cotwolds - Morton in Marsh is lovely!

my fave is the peak district. you can't beat it.

Second fave is the isle of wight - this place is out of this world. www.hermitage-iow.co.uk

Third fave is www.thishotel.com

Or you could have a fantastic time here: www.rowtoncastlehotel.com where we held our wedding reception in shrewsbury.

And fave hire place: www.braggscottage.co.uk

Or try the orkney's - its suppose to be fab up there at the moment. My parents have just got back from their house on Sanday.
