Question Anyone been to......

Have any of you been to Las Vegas? We are seriously considering it as part of pur Honeymoon as i have always fancied it and it was on Holiday: You Call The Shots the other night and its convinced me even more.

We are thinking of doing a week there and then 10 days in the Maldives whicj is going to be loads of travelling but we want go somewhere where we can 'do' stuff and the Maldives is Marks dream holiday destination - why do we have to pick places on opposite ends of the world!!

Any opinions would be great ta xxx

Dave has been - he loves it but says that you can only spend 4/5 days there before you have had enough - we are thinking of going in a couple of years time for a few days maybe combined with New York...

Oh, I so want to go to New York!!! And Vegas sounds great....

I think Alli went for her honeymoon but she was poorly and didn't get out much. Might be worth asking her?

My MIL has been to Las Vegas twice and loved it, mind you she is a bit of a Fruit machine freak and goes to bingo three times a week! I went to New York for my 30th earlier this year and it was fantastic, we did the Empire state and all the other sights and lots and lots of shopping!! MInd you it was a lot grubbier than I expected but still great.

I went to Las Vegas for three days almost exactly five years ago and that was more than long enough. It was too big and loud for me. There are some great things to do there, and I am glad that I went, but was also glad to leave - especially since I went to San Fransisco next and loved it there

It was great to see some of the shows and the sheer scale of the hotels, and the lights at Freemont Street. Also we flew to the Grand Canyon from there, which was amazing but if you aren't really into gambling, which we weren't, it gets too much after a while, as the noise and lights never stop. Also, because the hotels were so big, it took a very long time to walk anywhere.

I think that it is a great place to visit, but I think that you need to combine it with somewhere else.

Nicola

I agree. I did a two day stay in 97 and it was just enough for me. Not into gambling, so the lights were pretty but that was about it. There is something kind of souless about the place that gave me the creeps. Still, it is definately worth going for the experience, but you do need to think about somewhere else too.

My sis in law lives in San Diego, a mere 5 hour drive away, and that is a great place to visit! Right on the coast, lots to see and do and fantastic weather!! (plug plug) Also, San Fran is a wicked city, especially Alcatraz!!

Default YES YES YES!!!!

I went last June and it was absolutely the MOST FABULOUS PLACE!!!!!

Neither of us gamble, but we took trips to the Grand Canyon, the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.

We stayed in the Luxor (pyramid shaped place) and the staff were fantastic when they found out we were there on honeymoon - upgraded our room and really looked after us.

The place itself is just overwhelming - larger than life and definitely very tacky, but that's part of its charm!

The shows are like nothing else you've ever seen. My top recommendations are The Blue Man show (in the Luxor) which was absolutely hilarious and Siegfried and Roy which is a huge magic show.

Every hotel (as you probably know) has themed exhibits, such as the Excalibur has a full on knights in shining armour show every hour or so. New York New York has a massive roller coaster at the top of the building etc etc.

If you'd like to see some piccies, i'll do my best to scan some in for you.

Food is amazing - drinks are amazing - what more do you want???

Sold it to you yet????

O.K, all of this can be found on www.luxor.com

I've copied these for you as a taster. Please remember that the whole place is a bit tacky, but if you don't mind a bit of cheese you'll love it!

This is the type of room we stayed in (Tower room)

P.S The bed was so enormous that it had 6 pillows laid end to end on it - I kept losing Stephen for hours

Ooh, ta chuck!

Have you talked him into going properly yet or are delicate negotiations still continuing?
