Default hotels in Cumbria/cheap hotel rooms?

Not sure at this stage if we're going to be able to afford a proper honeymoon so what we really want to do is have a couple of nights in a posh hotel in Cumbria straight after the wedding.

I've found a few nice looking hotels on the web - but what I could really do with is personal recommendations from people.

Second part of this post (!):

Where can I find late deals for UK hotels on the net?

thanks in advance

www.teletext.co.uk is always good for deals - we stayed just outside the lakes in a country house ish hotel a couple of years ago for £50 per room per night...

for info try local government / tourist web sites. I like www.visitbritain.com and there's an acoommodation search page here...
http://www.lake-district.gov.uk/

Hope you find something, and I think the Lakes would make for a fabby honeymoon - no doing your choices down!

Hi Jellyhead!

I have used www.laterooms.co.uk for late hotel deals, and they are very good. You can get 4 and 5 star hotels for £40-£50 per night, per room!!!

Hope you find something wonderful!

the inn on the lake is very special one of their4 poster rooms looks out over teh lake and a window also looks out over the kirkstone pass, it is lovely butbe careful with them we had our wedding booked there and they double booked and we lost out , but they also added lots of extra costs on to the bill aswell, also you are only allowed 8 of the rooms in the hotel for guests, but it is very lovely, but i am a little biased as i hate them, my mum is buried in the village and i really wanted my wedding there and they shattered my dream , but everyone else has had really good experainces with them, my aunt went to a wedding there and said it was fantastic

sorry to hear about your experiences with them, Emma. Sounds pants

What do you mean when you say they added lots of extra costs to the bill?

The inn on the lake is gorgeous - my mum wanted me to get married there!

There is one just into Cumbria - Kendal way but can't remember the town (will ask my mum if you are interested) called the Punch Bowl - very small and intimate and gourmet food - the chef trained at a Marco Pierre White place ... and four poster beds etc.... lovely!
