Just thought I'd share one of the cheapest hols I've had with you.
We got flights through Ryanair during a special offer time for £45 including taxes to sardinia. We stayed in a B&B hotel in a non touristy area and hired a car to drive through the mountains, along the coast etc.
We went in March and the weather was divine!
So keep an eye out for ryanair's deals. I've also done stockholm, genoa (driving on to santa margarita on the coast) and Turin with this airline all through their special offers.
I took them up on their January sales offer and took Steve to Pisa for Valentines Day. In February, Italy isn't hot, but it's not the freezing cold of England - each day the temperatures hit 14 - 15 degrees celsius.
We stayed for two nights and the flights were £29.00 each including taxes!!! WHAT A BARGAIN!!!! Booked the hotel through them as well and it all worked out fine.
Didn't know that they went to Sardinia - will have to look into that.

Oooh, I'd love to do Sardinia, I've got the travel brochures too, but I'm definately a convert to organising everything yourself!
We are going to St Lucia for Cupids wedding next year, and so far we have got an apartment with swimming pool for a week for £300 (self catering!) the flights for £1100 and the car hire for £450 (mental maths = £1800 ??)
Anyway, the moral here is, a room with breakfast for a week in a hotel was £2000 EACH !!!
We never thought we'd be able to afford it, but at that price we can
Lo x

Talking of cheap flights. My Dad is italian and last year in October he went to visit his brother and the flight cost him £2.99 including taxes. It cost him £40 to park the car for a week! We fly to Pescara and it is about half an hour drive from where my dad comes from its great.
We went there this year in July but had to pay £60 each, each way which is still great when you think about it.
Get this, my cousin and his girlfriend are coming over in about 2 weeks time and it's free!!!
Also they booked to come to our wedding in December and it is only costing them 14 euros each Its just too good to be true!
