Default How about S.Africa??

H2B fancies honeymooning in S.Africa, has anyone been? If so, where and how safe is it there?

I fancy S A for a Hol because it's the same time zone isn't it? Quite a clever ploy!!

They did it on holiday you call the shots the other week and all looked fab - think they were in cape town though.

I guess like everywhere you need to be streetwise and maybe stick to tourist areas and don't wander in nasty places after dark but is prob OK otherwise...

My Mark is from SA, and he is yet to take me!!! Will ask him where he recommends tonight!

However, my friend has just gone, and is in Cape Town at the moment, having a ball of a time! She's then picking up a tour ( www.trailfinders.co.uk ) and doing a 3 week tour, including Vic Falls and the Garden Trail.

These are probably the safest parts, and avoid Zimbabwe at the mo!

south africa is wonderful

we went for a family holiday when i was about 8 right in the middle of all the troubles in the mid 80's and saw nothing of what was shown on the news

we spent a long weekend in capetown - fantastic hotels and shops - wonderful beaches and table mountain which is a must
and the two weeks in durban also fab wonderful food on the seafront, public bbq's on the beach.

i know it will have changes a lot but i really recomend it and i would love to go back

as for the safty just be as carefull as you would in any other foreign country

hope that helps

My aunt went to South Africa for 3 weeks last year, and she had a great time, but she got a dodgy stomach illness which required her to be put on medication and see the doctor out there, plus she said that some of the places that you can go are very very poor and they hassle you for money... But you get that most places that you go. She came back and said even for the illness, she'd go again if the chance came up.
