Default Share Your Honeymoon Details Here!

Hi all,

Thought this might help B2Bs and be generally interesting. Also, anyone who wants to know more can PM those who have been etc:

1. Where did you go?
2. How long for?
3. Which hotel/area?
4. Highs?
5. Lows?
6. Rating out of 10?

Me start!!

1. Bahamas.

2. 14 nights

3. Nassau (Radisson, Cable Beach. & Graycliff in downtown),
Compass Cay (Exuma Islands) (lodge - private rental)

4. Nassau - Blue Lagoon dolphin swim, Compass Point restaurant, Graycliff Hotel (classy place) and restaurant.
Compass Cay - mile long beach to yourself, use of boat, beautiful Cay, lots of wildlife (e.g. nurse sharks, lizards etc), very romantic.

5. Nassau - Cable beach very americanised/cheesey. Also expensive.
Compass Cay - very remote (so no good if you like nightlife), hard to get to. Had to charter our own seaplane flight or you can get from Miami on a 12 seater to a nearby Cay. But worth it.

6. Nassau - 6/10, Compass Point 9/10.

Who's next?

Mel

Cor, great idea! I AM gonna scan some photo's in (when I get a scanner!)

1/2. We went to Greece. 3 nights in Athens B&B and 7 nights self catering on Kefalonia, in Agia Efimia

3. In Athens we stayed in the Herodian hotel, it's right at the foot of the Acropylis. It was a lovely B class hotel.
In Kefalonia we stayed in a self catering apartment. We did tell them in was a honeymoon, and we were presented with a bottle of champagne! We also had one of the best apartments, with balconies on both sides, and a gorgeous view of the harbour front!

4. The entire 10 days was a high! We lived it up in Athens, it's a lovely city, Definately gonna go back there! Then we relaxed for the entire week on Kefalonia. We ate in different restaurants every night, and the food was gorgeous!

5. Only the coming home. Although I was ready to come home, we had to leave the apartment at 5am, and fly back in via Athens. But my mum met us at the airport and had a huge bunch of flowers and a "Just Married" balloon waiting for us!

6. A definate 10/10 all round! I might be biased, but it was our 1st holiday abroad together (we went with friends before, or to Cornwall!) but we still talk about it now, and would love to go back!

There, bored you all thoroughly, will try and scan piccies for you!
(Sorry Mel, I seem to have waffled!)

Luv Lo x

Me, me, me, me, me next miss (Mrs)!!!

1. USA

2. Just over 3 weeks

3. Copley Square Hotel, Boston
Holiday Inn, Fishermans Wharf, San Francisco
Sheraton, Los Angeles
Motel (can't remember which one), San Diego
Luxor Hotel, Las Vegas

4. So many, Vegas was absolutely amazing. San Francisco gave us access to Yosemite National Park which was beautiful and to Alcatraz which was scary. San Diego had the world famous zoo with all the lovely animals (I was in heaven) and sea world which meant I got to play with the dolphins and the rays (even more heavenly). I'll stop now!

5. Boston - very business like town. Not a lot to do after the initial couple of days. Boston Tea party and the trolley's are fun but more a shopping kind of town and I need entertainment and places of interest to visit.

6. Boston 5/10
San Francisco 7/10 - wouldn't recommend Fishermans Wharf though - bit like Southend Go further up the coast for good seafood and nice people
LA - not my favourite place, but great 'tourist place' 7/10
San Diego - wonderful for wildlife and laid back atmosphere 9/10
Vegas - FANTASTIC 10/10 - I don't gamble but there was just sooooo much to do. Shows were fantastic, place was amazing, Grand Canyon only a short journey away, Lake Mead, Hoover Dam etc etc

Luv

Dawnie

oooh, my sis in law lives in San Diego! We went to visit last year and took in San Fran too. Know what you mean about Alactraz! I also know what you mean about Fisherman's Wharf - still, its all good fun! We stayed on Market St when we were there. It was a fantastic holiday.

Have also been to Vegas. Mind blowing isn't it?

All excited now!!!

OK my turn

1. Zakynthos, Greece

2. 11 nights

3. Hotel di Zante, Vassilikos (thomson gold hotel)

4. Nice hot weather. Having a relaxing time

5. The hotel. In a really small room with twin beds, very dark and dingy. Hotel food crap. Having to queue up for food. Excursions were v. expensive and totally crap.

6. Weather 10/10. Holiday 1/10

(we did get £100 from thomsons after complaining though)

My turn!!!!

1. The Dominican Republic

2. 14 nights

3. Iberostar Costa Dorada, Playa Dorada (North Coast, 5*Hotel!)

4. The weather, the food and the entertainment were all FANTASTIC!! The room had a bed bigger than a king size (had to roll over twice to kick hubby when he snored ) The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the people we met were lovely.

5. No lows really. Missed out on the V.I.P lounge at the airport. Travelled 1st class and told not to check in until an hour before, when we got there we had to queue for 30mins to get through to departures so didn't have enough time to do anything, no shopping, no breakfast, nothing!!! We had pre-ordered our food for the flight, but when it came to the meal they had nothing for us so we ended up with what was left!!

6. Hotel etc 10/10 Flight 5/10

Would definately recommend the Dominican Republic

My turn!! I loved my honeymoon!!

1. Dubrovnik, Croatia - a fascinating city full of great people.
2. 10 nights - a nice compromise between 1 week and 2 which we couldn't afford!
3. Hotel Excelsior - a fabby 5* job with it's own bars and restaurants and pool and sea bathing platform. IT was ace - and we had a sea view room. It's part of the Wren's hotel group who have hotel's here too - in Scotland somewhere and Windsor I think. Owned by the Strok family, as in Gahrani Strok clothes!!
4. Everything was amazing. We ate out every night as it was so well priced and everything is done outdoors which is lovely! There was a really nice bar called Hemingways (catering to tourists probably judging by its prices) where we could have happily whiled away the whole time drinking Mohitos! (Rum, Lime and mint...)
5. I think we got a little bored of each others company!! We should probably have been more active, but it was fab. I didn't want to make buddies but I thought some of the younger couples might be pleased to chat and they weren't interested at all! I think the one evening we spent with three Irish lads outside Hemingways was one of our best! IT probably saved us from a row too...
6. It was all fab really, I'd give it 8 or 9 I reckon. I'd go back and wouldn't do much differently so I suppose that's a recommendation!

Karen honey, was it really only worth 1/10? £100 doesn't seem like much if it was!

Hope you managed to enjoy some of it.

hugs

Okay my turn!

1. Chantry in Devon
2. One week
3. Stayed in a self-catering cottage called The Music Room. It was a converted room used for music recitals in Victorian days and it was absolutely beautiful! It had four stained-glass windows, an open fire and a ceiling that disappeared into the mists! Our 6ft bed was up on the 'stage' area and there were great sweeping curtains dividing it from the rest of the room. It was totally the most romantic place I have ever been!
4. Highs were the day spend on the beach at Torcross. It was a pebble beach with views across a nature reserve and the sea. So blue and such a lovely day! Bliss!
5. Can't really think of any lows except that we had to book it from Friday to Friday and as we couldn't get there until Sunday, we lost two days of holiday
6. I would give it an 8/10.

Okay, my turn.

1. We went to the Maldives and Dubai

2. We stayed in the Maldives for 10 nights and Dubai for 4 nights.

3. In the Maldives we stayed on Reethi Beach in a water villa, which was totally amazing. The view was incredible. The service was also fab - wasn't overly impressed with the food. In Dubai we stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel (which is the one that is shaped like a wave) in an executive club room, which meant that we got free tea everyday, plus free cocktails and canapes every evening. This hotel was out of this world, very expensive, but worth every penny - we were totally pampered. Both the hotels we stayed in had honeymoon offers, in the Maldives, we got a free t-shirt, free candle-lit meal on the beach with wine and free flowers and a fruit basket in the room. In Dubai we were given the most amazing red roses, a huge fruit basket and a bottle of champagne.

4. Its difficult to pick out what the best bits were, because the entire honeymoon was incredible. The snorkelling in the Maldives was fantastic.

5. The only low was probably having chronic morning sickness! Not the best thing to have on your honeymoon.

6. Flights 9/10 - we flew with Emirates who I would highly reccommend. Hotels - Maldives 8/10 and Dubai 10/10.

Sam,

I LOVE the Dominican Republic - it's got such a bad rap from the press in recent years but it's absolutely gorgeous.

For my sins i've been to Playa Dorada 5 times . Can't fault it - the beach is wonderful, the place is really well kept and it's safe to walk around at any time of the day or night.

I'm glad you had such a great honeymoon. I'm trying to convince Steve to go there with me, but he's not sure he's up to the merengue - bless, he's got two rather large left feet

I think that is a really good idea. Then people can not only tell us all about their honeymoon, but people looking for places to go can see what is about, what is good and what is not.

I know I would find it very useful.
