Default Any handy Scots folks?

Well, we have done our planning for our jaunt to Scotland and have come up with an itinery which takes in both sets of our parents (mine on the way there, his on the way back) and Granny and Uncle Eric, but mostly gives us four nights in Edinburgh!!! Over new year!!!!

Anyone know of any nice places to stay at about £80 a night? All the hotels seem to be in the £200 bracket and we are spending all our money on the wedding reception!

Also for New Years Eve do you need to have tickets to get into the city centre for the entertainment?

Also can anyone recommend a lovely restaurant I can take my beloved to and royally treat him???

Ta!

Lightbulb Ock aye the Noo! Nikki

Niks,

Not sure whether you check this site more often or your e-mail. Anyway saw this post while having a 4.00pm god is it still Monday moment at work - and went for a quick surf on the net....

Edinburgh at New Year:

Two recommendations from me are:

The Bonham - Lovely boutique hotel, nice quiet location for Hogmanay - Romantic and swank!
The Apex International - Great location and Castle Views if you book early enough - more lively than the Bonham. Ugly on the outside, very nice on the in...

If you book via HotelConnect.co.uk it works out better value. I just checked avaliability on the 31/12 and 01/01 and the Apex comes out at £228, the Bonham at £284 - but you'll need to be quick!

This is total price though for both you and Nick
i.e. £57 per night at the Apex, or £71 at the Bonham.

Links are:
http://www.thebonham.com/
http://www.apexhotels.co.uk
http://www.hotelconnect.co.uk

If you can - I would go for the Bonham. I have used Hotel Connect on a few occasions and they have always been very good.

Hope this helps....

Love Bex

PS. If you book through hotel connect do it via phone. They are a nice crowd and if you tell them its a honeymoon they may sort you out a better room etc....

Good Luck xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

PS. I have stayed at the Apex twice and been to the Bonham for dinner - so I am not speculating....

I know a great place to eat and drink which is

This place is in a good location for New Year too - at the very bottom of Princess St.

Speak soon
