Smile Lake District

We have decided to go away either late Jan or early Feb for a nice long weekend (will take Friday and Monday off work).

We thought we would drive up to the Lake District and stay there, we have been once before and it was beautiful We like walking, so on with the walking boots and off we will trot!

Can anyone recommend any nice places to stay which are not really expensive?

Hmmmm - I would go for Ambleside or Grasmere, which are small and lovely, but not as touristy as Windermere. Close enough to windermere to get to. And there will be cheap places to stay.

m,y favourite place is Keswick, which is quite lively.

The lady who owns the hairdressers we go to has a cottage in windermere, K stayed there for her hen weekend. I think it was about £30 a night for the place, let me know if you're interested and I'll try to get details.
