Default Anyone been to Skiathos?

We're going next September for Chris' Brothers wedding and I know nothing about the place.

Anyone know any good greek island accommodation companies?

Any advice? where to go / not to go?

Help!

I've been to Zante/Zakynthos - it was okay but too touristy where we stayed. I think skiathos is one of the quieter islands so its probably really lovely...

can I come too?

Olympia Holidays (I think) are the main Greek tour operators.

For our honeymoon to Kefalonia we used www.sunvil.co.uk , they were ace, really looked after us!

Or try: www.holiday-rentals.com ,we've used this company for our apartment in St Lucia!

Hi Roz,

My Mum and I went on holiday to Skiathos in May 2001. If you have been to any other Greek islands (eg Crete, Cephallonia) you will find Skiathos very small! Outside the main town there is not much else at all on the rest of the island. That said, if you have good weather, etc and friends you may not want to do much else! We were unfortunate in that it was v rainy when we went but everyone said it was v unusual. We took a boat trip to neighbouring island(s) - I can't remember which off the top off my head but can find out for you - which was lovely. Also recommended is eating at the beautiful windmill restaurant on top of a hill in town - a bit of a trek up a hill but apparently v beautiful views when you get there!

E-mail me / post here if you want to know any more. We went last minute on a package deal so didn't get accommodation, etc independently.

We need restaurant info for the wedding do so nice to know that one's supposed to be good!

I'm kind of assuming the weather will be good and I can sprawl under an umbrella with a book for a fortnight! Fingers crossed.
