Would totally recommend Fuertaventura, it's a truly beautiful island with lovely friendly locals and some stunning scenery!!
We went self catering so were able to try out all the local places to eat (and boy did we eat!) We stayed in the harbour town of Correlejo, at the north of the island. Just down the road were the famous sand dunes, which are formed by the sand that blows over from the Sahara!! Gorgeous golden sand beaches with the most clear aquamarine seas! A tad chilly, but I still swam in it! The daily tempertaures were about 24 - 27oC so I have a healthy glow and a million freckles!!
We hired a car for a couple of days too so got to explore some of the non-touristy parts, absolutley fantastic!!
Would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a week of sunshine, whether you're a beach or explorer type, as there's plenty to suit all!!
Here's some piccies for you.....
The view from our apartment:

And finally for now, some of the vegetation. We stopped at an oasis ark with beautiful botanic gardens! (and a small zoo where we went on a camel safari!)

Glad you had a fab time, Lo. I didn't have such a fab time when I went, but now I've read this, I might just have to go back... (any excuse for sunshine eh?).
