Thumbs up Where would you go?

Reading where everyones going set me to thinking where I would love to go back to. For me it would be Sri Lanka.

I had a wonderful time there and began a life long love affair with elephants. They were so much fun and I could have thrown buckets of water at them and the baby elephants all day. I have pictures of us absolutely soaked playing with them. Apart from my wedding day - the best day of my life.

Where have you been that you would love to go back to (rather than somewhere you haven't yet been) and why?

I'd love to go back to St Ives in Cornwall - it's so beautiful and I just love cornwall - we went there for our hols when we were 19 / 20 and I think we'd appreciate it more. I fell in love with the art gallery and would love ot spend more time there.

I'd also love to go to Paris again, it was the first time I'd flown and we really tried to cram too much in, again we were only 18 and I think we'd have a better time there now we're more confident about who we are!!

And of course most other places I've been!!

For me it would be Sorrento - I was only 16 when we went but I loved it there (as opposed to Rome which I couldn't wait to leave!)

Would definately go back to Kefalonia where we honeymooned, it was such a quiet fishing resort, lovely so quiet the locals didn't speak English!!

When I was 14 I went on an 'educational cruise' and saw Israel and Egypt briefly....... when I was 18 I went back and spent 6 months in Israel, then finished with a week in Egypt......... I would love to go again and have a few weeks seeing it all, but the current political climate isn't too good!

Would to go back to Folegandros (greek island just over an hour away by ferry from Santorini). Beautiful unspoilt small island with no bars/discos, just gorgeous views and great food & lovely people.

I would to go back to Prague which I think is the most romantic city in Europe

I would love to go back to Australia where we went on holiday last year. Although we had 4 weeks there, and we really crammed a lot in it wasn't nearly enought time. My favourite place was the Witsundays which was the most magical place with such gorgeous beaches. Shame we only had a couple of days there as it was wonderful.

I would also like to go back to Canada. I went there on holiday when I finished uni and the Rockies were amazing but I was only there for two nights so didn't get to see alot. I I went back then I would spend more time there.

For me it would be Fiji. I went there for a week last year on a whim while in New Zealand for a month. It was the only time I went on holidays on my own and although was nevous about being Jacqui no mates it was quite the opposite. Most of the people on the island (Beachcomer Island - http://www.beachcomberfiji.com) were back packing around the place and travelling alone. So it was up to you whether you wanted to be on your own or not. I prefered to do this during the day so to consentrate on snorkling (somthing I had not till I went there after being persuaded by a germen girl I met), reading, perhaps if the mood took me, talk to who ever was near me...yes it was that friendly!!! The weather was perfect. At night there was "entertainment" - not professional but great fun! also went for midnight dipps in the lagoon with some people I met there...not bothering to take clothes off and running back "inside" to dry off our clothes when dancing. It was the ultimate freedome from everything, including convention....Oh I miss it!!!! funny - one of the things I really loved about it also was not wearing shoes for the week (they felt tight on me when I did finally put them on again!).

The accomadation was...well, pretty basic to say the least. I stayed in a mixed dorm with around 80 other people but that was ok and not as if you hung around there much other than to sleep and change (did that in the loos though!)...One day I will go back there and bring Trev with me. He is more in the 5* thing but I am hoping that this is the one place that will change his mind. (Seriously thinking that I am a hippy at heart and about to enter into a Dharma & Gregg marriage!).

I'd love to go back to some really nice apartments in Malta that I've stayed in when I was younger......

They're in a little village called Lija, it was totally beautiful! I went twice with my mum & dad when I was younger and would totally love to go back to the same holiday complex!!

H

PS I've still got a MASSIVE thing for Cornwall, been twice with my mum & dad, twice with my youth group & once with Matt....... plus we're off again in September for our wedding anniversary!

I think I would like to go back to the Great Ocean Road in Victoria Australia. I know I have only just come back from there, but it was absolutely stunning scenery and the little places we stayed in were soooo quiet and pretty and relaxing. We both wanted to stay for a week, but we only had 2 nights!

Otherwise, I want to go back to Sydney and sit ouside the Opera House looking over the harbour sipping a latte and eating muffins! - bliss!

I'm not exactly well travelled so its a choice of New Zealand, France, Portugal or France so its New Zealand most definately, we only covered just over a quarter of the Island so a lot more to discover there. Second would be the Vendee in France which is probably where we are going in September

I really want to go back to Denmark & see a lot more of it. I went with a friend in 96 and we only got to Copenhagen for a few days - I felt like crying when we left, it was soooooooo lovely! I'd like to see a bit more of the country, because David's dad & sister went there as part of tracing their family tree (after the wedding!)and stayed with some distant relatives. How cool is that!

I'd also like to go back & do a bit of investigation, because apparently my great-uncles sister fought in the Danish Resistance during the war, and I'd like to see if I can find anything out!

I left Paris last year saying I never wanted to go back.... but now i do and I'd want to go for longer than the night we had there so i could see so much more of it.

I hated having to wait over half and hour for the metro and then having hundreds of people push past me and through me!! But i want to go back now.... and anywhere in Germany would get my vote too

I think for me it would be the Maldives for a perfect beach holiday, or India for the culture and food.

Default BUMP.......

Maldives for me aswell, went for our honeymoon last year and it has to be the most romantic, relaxing & most beautiful destination ever ! gorgeous white sand blue sea & palm trees & lots of colourfull fish !!what more could anyone ask for !! just a bit of a shame its so expensive to go there i couldnt afford to go back for a few years maybe on a special w/anniversary though 10 years or something!?!?( will start saving now .

jaquie , dont know if your question about the mozzies was answered , but when we went last year i was armed with insect repellent n stuff and didnt use them once! no probs at all other than the HUMUNGUS !(sp!) ants ....... but there was spray in the room so we just killed them all ive never seen such big ants in my life!. (youve probably already been and come back now anyway as you posted your message back in may ! if you have i hope you had as fab a time as us!, if you havnt have a fab time and dont worry bout the mozzies)

love
claire
