Default Wedding Cake Toppers

Wedding cakes embellish one’s reception, providing atmosphere for the festivities, further modishness and is a sizeable part of what could be considered memorable. In a sense, it is an entity in itself, prone to the couple’s choices, their mutual experiences, beliefs, and at times, even their hobbies. It is with these in mind that the topper of a wedding cake is chosen.

The topper itself is an expression: a figurine based on how the couple met, an ornament that speaks of memorable activities they have done together, or it can be a simple representation of their commitment.

Toppers can be very traditional, with statuettes of a bride and a groom beneath an arch of laces, doves, hearts, and other such symbols of love and devotion. Figurines are usually made of porcelain or durable resin.

Toppers can also be quite opulent: blown glass that catches the eyes of wedding attendees, capturing light seeping through the reception area. Flowers can be strewn about the cake and toppers can sometimes replicate your own bouquet. Made of porcelain or satin, they can also be made to look like roses, integrated into the cake with flawless elegance. Usually, choosing flowers that match your reception, designs of your dress, or the décor would be best.

Weddings, too, have their roots in fairy tales. Such weddings of fantasy could be merged atop your wedding cake by your topper to match your own.

If you want a more realistic touch, a figure of a mutual hobby can top your cake. Trips to the beach, watching basketball games, or inordinate amounts of movie-watching can be signified by a well-chosen topper. Whimsical designs can be added, representing experiences that have been, in themselves, extraordinary; such as horses to represent horse-back riding and the like.

Choosing your cake topper requires you to use your imagination and in some cases, toppers can be anything from a particular sculpture to a favorite knick knack. For as long as it isn’t too heavy, it may very well match your cake and theme and be ceremoniously put on top.

Animals, asides from flowers, can be used to top your cake. Doves are a common choice since they are associated with love and commitment. Sometimes, dolphins are employed atop cakes for beach weddings.

There are also seasonal wedding toppers, where you choose your toppers according to the particular holiday or season you’ve chosen to have your wedding in. Sparklers and flags for the Fourth of July, bunnies and eggs for Easter, red roses and hearts for Valentine’s Day.

To conclude this section, your wedding is a special day and some thought ought to go to your cake. Prudence only dictates that your cake be something you can appreciate years down the road.
