i absolutley loved going to the wedding dress shops , they made me and my bm's feel like total princesses the hole time bringing loads of different styles for us to try on. they also really looked after my Bm's and took them into a small room just off the big room where i was trying dresses on and put loads of lovely little bm's dresses on them, just to make them feel extra special they even put tiaras on them and the full works on me inc veil & tiara and a bouquet and totally pampered us all afternoon.

in fact if it wasnt for the woman at the wedding dress shop , insisting i tried on my wedding dress i would never have chosen it, as i thought it was horrible on the hanger ! but she pursuaded me to try it for the style and as soon as i put it on i knew it was the dress for me.

awwww if only i could do it all again (with the same hubby of course!)

love

I went to one wedding dress shop.......... couldn't see anything, my mum spotted a bm dress, showed it to me & I fell in love with it there & then!

I'm glad it happened that way as I'm really not a "Girlie Girlie" and would not have enjoyed traipsing round all the shops trying on dress after dress!
I had an idea in mind, couldn't see it in the wedding dresses & then my mum spotted it in the BM section (She didn't even know what sort of dress I was looking for!)

The shop I went to was fantastic, not at all pushy!

I found it a bit surreal & awkward but thankfully I only had to go to one shop & I bought the first dress I tried on!
The women in the shop are all really nice & I think me & my friend gave them a right laugh too!
I'm not a girly girl either (but I didn't think I'd get away with trousers & trainers on the big day ).

I didn't have a bad experience with the various people in the various shops I went into but as I am not into shopping anyway, the wedding dress shopping was only an alright experience...a bit on the boring side!

I did enjoy chatting with other B2B, also in wedding dresses - a bit like that scene in Friends with Monica and Pheobe!!!

when you do find the dress though - now that is emotional!

Hmph! First time I went shopping for a dress i was a size 14 and was told I needed "A sleeve to hide the flabby tops of the arms" and that empire line "flattered my larger hips and stomach"

Nuff said!

So far I've only been into one shop and it was a complete nightmare. They basically said that I was too short for most of the dresses and that I would have a really hard time trying to find anything that will look nice. I didn't stay long and have made an appointment at another shop. I only hope that they are a lot nicer as I can't cope with that again.

I had a really good experience when I went to get my dress. Found a lovely shop in Wokingham (thanks to someone on here!) and they were so helpful from the start. They ordered a dress Id seen in from the designer for me and when I went to try it, it was the one. They advised me to try more to make sure but werent pushy with it at all. They treated me and mum so well and really agave us their full attention and didnt rush us once.

We called back later that week to say we wanted to order the dress and would go back the following weekend to pay. When we got there they had kept the dress for me to try again They should have sent it back on the Monday.

I also got my shoes and tiara from there as they were just so nice.

Ive recommended them to everyone I can as the service I had was second to none.

Can't say my experience of wedding gown shopping has been totally great...I know what I want and what suits me and people telling me something will look "wonderful", when I know it won't isn't my idea of fun.

Dress shops are just out for your money. They charge you an arm and a leg for a dress you will wear once. Why????? I just went to a once worn shop and got mine for 20$.

I went to another shop and got my dress a few weeks ago and I have to say that I had the most fab time. They were so nice. They advised me about what would look good and let me try on almost every dress in the shop and then I went back to the second one I tried on.

I think that as long as you find a good one then dress shops can be fab and I had a great time and lots of fun.
