Who is paying for BM dresses???
After my recent dispute with a BM, just wanted to see what every-one else was doing re: paying for BM dresses. Are you paying for them or are your BM's and if they are did they offer or did you have to ask???

I paid for mine..2 little ones @£68 each and one for my sister @ 150.00. But If I were having all adult BMS I would choose Monsoon dresses or ones like Rools is having that they could wear again and ask If they could pay.

My mum paid for the outfits that my god-daughter and her borther wore (bridesmaid and pageboy), she was also going to pay for the dress my big bridesmaid was going to wear, but after a bit of a "psycho" moment she wasn't my bridesmaid anymore.
DH & Paid for the rest of the wedding and my mum thought it wouldn't be too expensive to buy the dresses etc compared to what we were spending for the wedding, bless her, she even paid for my dress.

We are paying for the BM dresses and have already bought the shoes, they ended up about £140 each including postage. The shoes were £15 each from Faith in the sale. I will ask them to buy their own underwear though as they all know what suits them. Two of them have offered money, and I am sure the others would be more than happy to pay if we needed them to.
3 of my BMS are coming from Ireland, and are paying their own flights and hotel, and I wouldn't have asked them and then asked them to pay a load of money for dresses.
However, all the boys are paying for their own suit hire, is that double standards?

My BM's paid for themselves first time, I paid for them second a felt happier about it.
If I do it again then I'll foot the bill for the BM's for sure.

I paid for 3 out of 5 of them
Pete's sister asked to be BM and her mum said she would pay for her dress.
Then my other lovely bm who I was bm for in Aug (in blue) paid for hers too as she insisted (was planning her wedding at same time which her parents paid for so knew how much it all cost)
The other 3 I paid for as they didn't even offer!
But yeah, boys paid for their own hire

I paid for them but was unhelpful enough to order my adult bridesmaid to 'just find something that will go' then sent her a cheque.... I wasn't the most dedicated of planners! However, had she chosen one that cost a fortune (I think it was 130 quid) I'd have asked her to pay some towards it!
The littleuns' dresses were only 30 quid from Debenhams!

The 2 little BMs dresses cost about £100 for the pair, I also bought their sparkly shoes for around £10 each from Woolies. If it had been proper shoes then obviously I wouldn't have spent so little - but for 'party' type shoes they wear once or twice and then outgrow...
The CBM came with her own dress, and all accessories - it was a silver evening dress. We went through her wardrobe to see what she had that would be suitable, then based the other BMs colour on her dress! (Frugal - moi?? )

I just voted that I was paying...and then I remembered that my mum has offered. Oops. But basically I was planning to pay as it wouldn't feel fair for me to ask them to pay when it was my wedding and they were doing me the honour of being my bridesmaids (purely a personal opinion!). But that said, they'll have a budget and if they want anything over it they'll be footing the bill for the extra!!
I was a bridesmaid last year and paid for my whole outfit - I didn't exactly offer, it was just assumed. It was about £100 in total, so didn't break the bank, but I would have preferred if my friend had told me that was what she expected up front rather than waiting til we got to the checkout to mention it (literally!). It was her choice of dress, shoes and wrap and definitely not something that could be worn again. I think it would have been nicer for her to let us know when she asked us to be bridesmaids and then we would have had the option to decline. That said, I would never back out once I'd agreed to pay for something.

My Mum paid for the hire of my two (adult) BM outfits. They bought their own shoes and undies and i gave them the jewellery i wanted them to wear on the day as a present as well as a bag each that i had made for them from left over fabric my bodice was made from.

We went half and half. H offered to pay the whole lot, but at £220 (it was handmade as I only had 1 adult BM) I said no, but she insisted on paying half as our present. She bought my shoes and her shoes too (they were in a closing down sale), and I bought her jewellery and paid for her make up to be done
My mum bought the flower girl dresses from BHS, and their parents bought shoes, tights etc

This was the one of the few things that I paid for (hubbie paid for everything else - except my dress, dad bought that). One of my lovely BMs wanted to pay for her one but I wouldn't let her. Perhaps it is an irish thing but the bride/her parents/h2b generally pays for this kind of thing. I literily can't remember how much they cost (and it was only a year and a half ago...the brain has stopped working again).

We paid for the bm dresses, shoes and accessories. We also paid for the mens attire.
I don't think that there is a set way to do these things though. If I was asked to pay for my dress (if i'm ever asked to be a bm again) i'd do it without hesitation and wouldn't think it odd at all.
Just that we could afford to buy the dresses at the time so we did.

If u ask people to be ur bridesmaid..I thought u would pay for them.
How could u ask someone to be ur bridesmaid and then expect them to pay?
New to all this..geeze so much to think about!

I don't think there's a set way of doing anything to be honest.
You do what is comfortable for you and the people taking part in your day.
If you're perfectly honest at the start then there is (hopefully) no room for misinterpretation.

We paid for all three BM's - approx £175 each plus their shoes and paid for their hair and make up to be done. They did all offer to pay but we said nope. We asked the men to wear charcoal suits that we knew they already had but we bought their shirts and ties (mainly to make sure they all matched!!).
