I used to get email notification everyday when someone replied to a thread i had started or had subscribed to. i havent been getting these anymore for a while now? i havent changed my personal settings on my user CP ?
anyone know why? thanks
Mark had to disable it for one reason or another. I can't remember why and i don't know why it hasn't been re-enabled. There was a thread about it in help somewhere.
Sorry Just read that back and seen how unhelpful it is!
If I remember rightly it was all disabled when someone tried to hack the old server. Mark changed to another server - his own I think - because the one he was using was so unreliable. I think it was hacked twice or something like that in the space of as many weeks and so it meant Groovy was down. So he moved Groovy to a more reliable server which costs him more but at least this way it works. I don't know if he just never re-enabled the notification because he forgot, in case hackers ever manage to get on this server or because they add to the cost. If it's the last two I'm happy for it to stay off. Since our own ISP's servers were hacked I get countless junk mail in a private e-mail account that no-one knows about other than about five people and so if keeping it disabled means there's less of a risk if hackers do get the new server then that's fine by me. And if it's kept disabled to keep the costs down then that's fine too cos I know running a site like this doesn't come cheap.
