shrinking pics - Wedding Forum

Never had a problem up til recently. I used irfanview and its notmally great. Now when i shrink a pic if I'm lucky enough to be able to make a small enough file I get appalling picture quality (see avatar) any ideas why? what I'm doing differently and how I can stop it cos I've got some pics to post

Ummm, no idea why actually as it was working ok before. The only thing i can think of is possibly an alteration in the resolution digital pics are taken at? Quality is rubbish at a lower resolution. Alternatively, i guess you could be resizing a picture that has already been made smaller?

Dunno Bron but i am sure someone else can help. I don't use Irfanview. If you want you can email the pics to me and i'll have a look at the settings of them/resize them for you?

I couldn't get to grips with Irfanview at all. I use either Paint Shop Pro or M icrosoft O ffice Picture Manager both of which seem to resize pics perfectly for here. I have no idea about resloutions and things but what Rach says sounds like it makes sense.
